    Default Greatest Live Performance.

Post up the BEST VH performance you can find. Not a whole show, but ONE song.

This is mine. 1989 Tokyo Dome "5150" with Al destroying on real drums. Ed's solo is different and just ruins his 5150 guitar with godliness. Mikey's scream at the end is lethal and Sammy's voice is on.

Even if you are not a sam fan, the Jam between the 3 of them and solo at 3:19 is just absolutely Sick.

If I remember my boot of this show correctly, Ed does the awesome extended solo similar to the LWAN one, but it was cut from this video footage, which is a damming shame. I think this performance is better than the LWAN one, mainly because of Al' s superior playing here. Really love how he changed the opening fill from the original.

    Without a doubt,

One Way To Rock from LWAN.

Just perfect in every way. It always struck me, how effortless, Ed made guitar playing, look.

I can see a difference between Sam's playing and Ed's. Sam looks a bit rigid to me, whereas Ed looks fluid.

They were amped up on that number but kept it so damn tight...

probably this IMO. especially with the original extended solo they weirdly cut in half for the album version

for some reason nearly all of my fav VH live stuff I've heard is pre first album.

That is I agree with the 1989 Tokyo performance of 5150. Just watched that properly now even though I own a shitty copy somewhere. Wow.

Well for me this is a no brainer , I was at the June 12th `81 Oakland show and it was mindblowing for a then 13yr old. I saw em on every tour from the `80 on and `81 remains untouchable

If you saw Van Halen back in that era and watching this doesn't make every hair on your body stand on end and make you want to bang your wife (or someone else's wife) while drinking some whiskey and kicking someone's ass all at the same time.....you might be a cadaver.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -
