    Default New Stage Setup

Cheers to new VH music and tour. How awesome would it be if the boys went back to huge stages ala Fair Warning, Hide Your Sheep or 1984 type productions? Seems they are embracing their past more often lately in many ways, perhaps we could get an awesome and exciting stage with tons of speakers everywhere and an insane light show. We can hope right? Cheers to an exciting new era of VH!

    It's a great idea !
I'd like to see it too , but feel that 'those days' might be gone . We'll have to wait and see .

Thankfully , the wait it almost over

Those were the days. Amazing stages. But agree those days are likely gone. Everything is more streamlined these days. But if a greatest hits tour I suppose cool imagery from each album while they played a particular song might be cool.

I wouldn't expect any kind of huge, crazy setups like the old days. This is an amphitheater tour. They're basically going to be playing for 5-6,000 "seated" people at these venues. Large stage designs is something you do when playing arenas. If anything I would assume they scale it down a bit.

I'm told it is a smaller stage from the last tour.

That's probably what I would have expected. I didn't think they would go bigger.

Plus, let's face it, VH never had an "insane light show". They were always 5 years behind the industry that way.

I like the idea of a huge stage, a la "Fair Warning", etc. The problem is a bigger stage sort of necessitates that you run around a lot more to "cover" the stage. These guys are in their sixties, I doubt they want to do twice the running around they did two years ago on tour. Plus a bigger stage costs more to haul around the country. If they were doing 200 dates, it might make sense, but less dates means a more streamlined presentation I'm guessing.

That's what I was going to say. A huge stage means they have to cover a lot of ground to make use of it. Eddie has a fake hip, Dave is gimpy and moves pretty slow now, compared to back in the day, and there's no Mike. Wolf is a fantastic player, but if we're being honest, nobody is there to see him, so nobody really cares if he runs all over the place. And the drummer can't go anywhere.
Plus, Eddie won't go wireless anymore, so that kind of limits him to a smaller area, anyway.

And they're 60. Not many singers/performers that age move all that much. Jagger still does, amazingly. Sammy does. Anyone else? Halford doesn't. Dickinson? Plant doesn't. Daltrey doesn't. Steven Tyler still gets around. Most don't, though.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

    Uhhh...

I honestly think it has to do with cost/benefit ratio more than anything. They're looking at how many people they'll pull and how much money they'll make. Arena tours are expensive. Big stages mean big union crews mean more trucks-- expensive. I'm not saying physical limitations might not factor in somewhat, but I bet it has more to do with wanting to spend less and make more.

^When did he ditch the wire? He definitely still had it in 07-08.

Back to wireless on the 12/13 tours.

Would love to see a FW stage again, but it will not happen. Sheds do not allow huge stage setups, and VH is way too old to cover a stage setup like FW. Nobody covered the stage like VH "back in the day".

He did, but apparently they've since toured in 2012 and 2013, as well.
