Default Building collapse, fire, possible explosion in East Village NY

This is all new and breaking, but there are buildings engulfed in flames right now.

Up to 30 injured in NYC building collapse
By Jamie Schram and Natasha Velez March 26, 2015 | 3:34pm'

As many as 30 people were hurt in the partial collapse of an East Village building Thursday afternoon, law-enforcement sources told The Post.

The destruction near the corner of Second Avenue and East Seventh Street was reported shortly before 3:30 p.m.

The FDNY quickly declared a three-alarm emergency at the scene, which it said was a mixed-occupancy building at 125 Second Ave.

A photo posted on Twitter showed thick brown and gray smoke billowing out of the building and over the neighborhood.

we have seen what seems to be an increase in gas explosions...is it due to aging infrastructure or what

anyway, I consider and explosive gas alarm to be as important as a smoke and CO2 detector..especially out here in Goose Poop where there are so many propane tanks.

Isn't that why they add the scent? Or is it one of those things where you get used to it and that's it. So maybe we should have detectors for that too.

yeah they add a scent to propane and natural gas so that you can detect it, but people mistake it for sewer odors etc

that's why I bought explosive gas detectors for my rental units

you would be shocked how often I go into one of my rentals and see the smoke detector'CO2 detector disconnected

"It wouldn't stop beeping" fine..call me, I have extra batteries and extra detectors if it's going bad..don't just pull the thing off the wall!!!!

Many gas and electric lines are old. Buildings are wired for the times they were built when you owned a lamp and a couple of other things that needed electricity. Many were never properly upgraded.
