His new tune is not good. Funny thing about the video, it kind of reminds me of Roth's BBQ videos:

I like John 5 but that was not good at all, couldn't even make it through the whole thing. Yikes.

Hang Tight- This " Shine a Light " caught my eyes now...& I just Googled to doublecheck....

It's an ELO tune from their 1979 album titled " Discovery"....

    It's on the BBQ video...

No idea about Granati Brothers or YFLM...(???)

Unless there's 2 Unreleased DLR tunes with the " Shine" in the song title...( ???)

The demo is a completely different song from the BBQ video cover of the ELO tune.

    This.

DLR did cover the ELO song (it isn't bad), but Shine the Light is a different tune.

    Ok thanks. That explains that.

I'll check it out. Could be I have it fuck if I know.

I have one main DLR playlist that I LOVE to death play it quite frequently when in the right mood.

BAKER STREET is the first tune...followed by....

TIN CUP CHALICE.....which is very dear to my heart as Jimmy Buffetts 1974 album A1A is one of my all time top favorites....

    Coconut Grove is on there....

As well as James Browns I'll Go Crazy from 19888 live bootleg...plus lots of other stuff...

But no Shine a light tune....yet.

Hear Snippet Of DAVID LEE ROTH's Unreleased Album With JOHN 5

    May 10, 2019

ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5 has unveiled a snippet of the unreleased album he recorded with David Lee Roth.

John 5, who got his first big break playing on Roth's solo album, "DLR Band", before landing stints with Marilyn Manson and now Zombie, played a 40-second sample of a track from the disc during a recent interview with Masters Of Shred. You can hear it in the YouTube clip below starting at around the 22:49 mark.

John 5 told Metal Titans that he is hopeful that fans will get to hear his latest collaboration with the iconic VAN HALEN frontman.

"I think it will see the light of day," he said. "I'm banking on it, because it's such a great record.

    Story continues after advertisement
"I can't say for sure, but I think Dave is working with VAN HALEN right now, which is wonderful," he continued. "I'm happy for him. That's one of my favorite bands.

"I think it will come out when Dave is ready to release it.

"I think you'll love it. It's a wonderful record. I'm so proud of the album."

Back in 2015, John 5 told Guitar Player magazine that the sessions for his latest Roth album — which apparently took place at least five years ago — were remarkably relaxed. "I would just go to his house and I'd write these songs with him, and he would say, 'Let's go into the studio,'" John 5 explained. "So he would go to Henson studio and record these songs. They came out… They're so good. They're so good. And we've got Gregg Bissonette playing drums on it, and I played the bass, and they're really great songs."

John 5 recounted one particularly funny episode that happened during the recording sessions for his latest collaboration with Roth. He said: "We [originally laid down all the guitar tracks] without click. 'Cause [Dave] wanted that natural feel. And I was, like, 'Great.' And he wanted to get drums on and some percussion, and the engineer was, like, 'Well, we're really gonna need click.' And I'm leaving for a tour with Zombie in, like, 40 hours… So [Dave] called me and he said, 'John, you've gotta come in and record the whole record again with click.' Now, we're talking overdubs, harmonies, doubling… everything. And I said, 'Dave, I'm going on tour in, like, 20 hours.' [He said] 'You've gotta do it. You've gotta come in and redo these guitars on the whole record.' Anybody else, I'd be, like, 'You crazy,' but it's Diamond Dave, and so I was, like, 'Okay.' So I went in there — I was exhausted — and I played this record to the click — everything; all the harmonies… everything. And [I] did it to click."

The guitarist said that Roth's vocals on the album sound "like nothing you've ever heard. It's old VAN HALEN — sounds like 'Could This Be Magic?' or anything like that. It's just that sound, that tone."

In a 2014 interview with "One On One With Mitch Lafon", John 5 described the LP as "11 of the greatest songs you'll ever hear, and it's just me and Dave, and we had Gregg Bissonette play drums on it. And it's unbelievable," he said. "There's a song called 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bar & Grill'. And you know, just great, great songs."

John 5 has been playing in Rob Zombie's band since 2005 and has been the longest-running member of the group.

John 5 will release his new solo album, titled "Invasion", this summer.

Super small snippet, but DLR has a trend in his songwriting where he is trying to slam as many words as he can into a line. Don't think it always works, especially on first listen.

Sounds like "Damn Good," the song, and that's one of the best Roth solo song.

I'm wondering who is preventing this from being released. Hopefully not someone with a dutch last name.
