Default 15 Things You Didn't Know About Al Van Bundy

Boredom relief whilst at work? Why not...

    1. My username is a mixture of my two heroes: Edward Van Halen & Al Bundy.
    2. My actual name is Patrick.
    3. I was on "Kids Say The Darndest Things" when they came to Boston in 1998.
    4. I've seen Van Halen three times.
    5. The band I've seen the most? Y&T. 8 times since 2012.
    6. My biggest regret is not getting into live shows earlier. I didn't go to my first concert until I was 17.
    7. The day I turned 18, I bought my first (legal) scratch ticket and won $500.
    8. I've been 6'2" since I was 14 years old.
    9. Being that my father was from Brooklyn & my mother was from Boston, I've been told I sound like Peter Steele with a Boston accent.
    10. My great uncle is Henry Hansen. He was one of the Original Six to raise the first American flag at Iwo Jima.
    11. I would gladly take a swift kick in the balls once a year if it meant never having to deal with allergies ever again.
    12. My ideal guitar tone would be Eddie Van Halen's lead tone, Billy Gibbons' rhythm tone & Tom Scholz' clean tone.
    13. My childhood idols were The Undertaker and Triple H. Everyone else in school went apeshit over The Rock. I never cared for him.
    14. Between concerts & WWE, I've probably been to the Garden at least 50 times. Still haven't been to a Celtics or Bruins game. Don't really have a desire to either.
    15. Keep a lookout for a green Ford Five Hundred with Massachusetts license plate VNHLN1. That's me.

10 is bad ass. I bet you're proud.

5 is bad ass. I'm proud of you for having good taste in bands. Meniketti is the shit!

    Number 10 is way cool.

I only ever went to the (original) Gah-den once - and it was for the ice capades!

I went to my first concert at 17 - it was some band from Pasadena - they've been gone for a long time now...

10 and 5 for me too. Meniketti is one of the most underrated monsters on the planet. It goes without saying how awesome your great uncle is.

"He has a swaggering retro machismo that will give hives to the Steinem cabal" -Camille Paglia on Donald Trump

"Make way for the bad guy"- Tony Montana

'This hamburger don't need no helper"- David Lee Roth

"I wish Bon Jovi would've given me a call before he recorded all of his hits, because the lyrics would've been smarter, the melodies would've been much more smashing, and they would've sold a lot fewer records." -David Lee Roth

"My beef is people thinking Bon Jovi is good cuz they sold lots of records to housewives." -tango

"But being number one doesn’t really mean jack fuck all. We sold twice as many records as other records that year (1984) that landed in the Number One position." ~Eddie Van Halen

Wow, Y&T! I remember hearing them now and again in the early 80s. They may have opened for someone I saw back then but I don't remember. Amazing how these bands keep going and going with relatively small but loyal groups of fans.

I wore out their "Contagious" album.

The next one, Ten, I really didn't like it that much, then I lost interest.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

I've always loved the following song by Y & T, although I don't understand why the lead singer is wearing that outfit inspired by "Hooters" ...

"It's so lonely at the top because it's so crowded at the bottom" - Diamond David Lee Roth

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving is not for you"

"Be careful what you wish for because you just might lose what you already have"

"Women and Children First ... The REAL Van Halen III"

I can't recommend their last one, "Facemelter", enough. Just straightforward hard rock. Nothing glam about it. "I'm Coming Home" & "Blind Patriot" are the bulldozer tunes.

Your dad is from Brooklyn and your mom from Boston, yet you used the word "whilst" instead of "while"?
