Default Izod Center (formerly Continental Airlines Arena, Brendan Byrne Arena) Shuts Down

Sad news for people like me that grew up in or near Northern NJ. I saw many, many concerts there over the past 30+ years. Not a great venue but many great memories.

So that's why I got an email saying Summerslam had moved to the Barclays Center. Seems like Izod was a New Jersey staple for arena gigs. That would basically be the equivalent of the Garden shutting down here. Damn shame.

it is a shame, went down there in 99 for a sports weekend. Not the biggest crowds but very vocal ones.

Made it there in 2007 for the VH tour. Eddie threw his monitor off the stage. Not the best of shows but cool to make it to that arena!

    Bummer.

It had the best acoustics of the NYC area arenas.

I was at that show, too. Quite a memory.

I was never a Devils fan, but I saw a lot of live shows there. Going to miss that building.

I think since the Brendan Byrne arena was a multi-use facility, this should be in Non, you know, in case a Nets fan shows up...

sad when the monuments of your youth disappear. I was sad when they tore down the Toledo Sports Arena and that place was a colossal dump. It was replaced with the much nicer Huntington Center downtown, but still....

Yeah, I'm a Met fan for over 40 years and spent a good part of my youth at Shea Stadium. Many made fun of it and joked about how ugly it is but I always loved it and it will never be the same with the much more generic CitiField.

yeah, we take away the history and add something generic that the next generation will mourn

That's the nice way of putting it.

Fredo is like a jilted lover still pining over the woman that walked out on him so he put a wig on his new chick to make her look like the one that ran off to California.

I used to believe one day it will get better, that he'll be dead of old age but the damn son is there dreaming up new ways to humiliate the fans.
