Default Painter says he included Monica Lewinsky's dress in Bill Clinton portrait

The artist behind a painting of Bill Clinton has revealed its biggest secret — Monica Lewinsky.

At the time of its 2006 debut, the apparent lack of Clinton’s wedding band stirred controversy, but now Pennsylvania artist Nelson Shanks says Clinton’s affair with the former White House intern left the biggest statement of all on the full-body portrait.

“He’s probably the most famous liar of all time,” Shanks told the Philadelphia Daily News. "He and his administration did some very good things, of course, but I could never get this Monica thing completely out of my mind and it is subtly incorporated in the painting."

The country’s 42nd president was “terrified” to be painted by Shanks, who has done portraits of Princess Diana and Pope John Paul II. But he hid all fears with a relaxed smirk and bold stance. The work now hangs in the National Portrait Gallery.

When Clinton was not in the room, Shanks says he set up a mannequin sporting a blue dress he likened to Lewinsky.

Shanks claims Hillary and Bill Clinton hate the painting.

the Oval Office’s fireplace mantel that Clinton leans on as a metaphor of the effect the affair had on both his administration and the former president, Shanks explained.

“The Clintons hate the portrait,” Shanks said.

The artist also alleged that Bill and Hillary Clinton tried to have it removed from the National Portrait Gallery, but the claim is unsubstantiated, the Philly paper added.

When Clinton was not in the room, Shanks says he set up a mannequin sporting a blue dress he likened to Lewinsky. Its casted shadow is depicted on the Oval Office’s fireplace mantel that Clinton leans on as a metaphor of the effect the affair had on both his administration and the former president, Shanks explained.

The shadow cast on the fireplace mantel is apparently a mannequin wearing a blue dress for the oil canvas painting of former President Bill Clinton.

Thanks, 47. That makes more sense now.

It's a good portrait, and a clever easter egg. I would be surprised if the Clintons didn't get the chance to approve it.
