Default A new twist on Daves vocal issues in last couple of tours......

I never thought I'd say this, but I admire him getting up there and giving it a go, even though his vocals aren't so good.
After hearing Paul Stanley come out and admit to lip synching last night on their Japan tour, it brings a whole new prospective to be honest to the fans and the audience.
Paul and Gene have always been dead against lip synching, and have gone on record saying its "cheating" the audience. Its a day today I never thought would happen...
If Dave and Ed come to a point where they will tour again. I know deep down they wouldn't go the lip synch route.
What is understood need not be discussed

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

I used to love KISS when I was 9 and 10 but I am so glad I am no longer a fan. It's pathetic enough they have two other guys wear the makeup of Ace and Peter. It is even more pathetic that you have to lip sync your songs now? Hang it up. We know they will not do that because we know Gene and Paul are about the almigty dollar and want to bring in every last penny before they croak. Sad.

He had to have a vocal track mixed with his for that song....no way he could pull that one off otherwise...not now, not 20 years ago.

I love that they are doing it. My great grandkids will see a KISS...

Dave's vocals are great. This is rock n roll, not opera...
Any musicians near Boston / Cape Cod want to get together and play some VH? I play drums, guitar, keyboard, bass, and I sing. I want to start a VH tribute band. Contact me if interested.

They're definitely not great but better to have VH than not.

KISS screwing up doesn't give DLR a pass. VH has always been about musical excellence, not a race to the bottom.

See, (and I know this has been beaten to death) I don't see his vocals as being "no good"... his VOCAL CHOICES have been no good... he obviously can still sing in the whiskey soaked mid range tone that IS Diamond David Lee Roth if he wants... I have even heard a few close to classic screams now and then, albeit a bit rougher... the PROBLEM is that he is CONSTANTLY STRAINING TO SING MELODIES IN A REGISTER THAT ARE BOTH NON EXISTENT ON THE ORIGINAL SONGS!!!

He has it in his head that he is somehow showing off some new style or register that he thinks is amazing, while it sounds like a cat in a blender. He is butchering MELODIES... even if your voice is not as strong as it once was, changing MELODIES to a HIGHER register is complete LUNACY!!!

I've sung for over 30 years and have to say that I am completely baffled when I hear what he is doing now... I have said in past that I feel something went wrong with his voice in the hiatus after '07/'08 and he felt he needed to make an adjustment, which is fine for a time being to keep things going... however, he has kept that adjustment and turned it into this ABOMINATION that has taken over the cool, swaggering vocals...

Even it you can't do ALL of what you did in '07/'08... DON'T change up the classic melody lines that were the hooks...

I CANNOT even listen to the current version of Hear About It Later, which is just a brilliant song through and through...

'07/'08 DLR was Rock God quality in attitude, performance and voice...

Really not sure what happened to that guy...

I originally thought that from when I first hear the Cafe Wha gig...
But then you hear that he can do the "normal" Dave voice, so it begs to wonder is his vocal issue his "Eccentric Brain"?

Probably due to him scream/singing everything an octave higher instead of singing it in the same range that we all love....that, and he's an old man.
    Right here I say....
