Default How to mount aftermarket pickups in an EBMM EVH, Peavey or EVH Wolfgang?

I'm not sure I want to change pickups in any of these, but am curious how to fit a new pickup in them, since they're screwed into the wood and the cutouts for the ears are round, while most non-Wolfgang pickups' ears are square. Do you just take a file to it? But then the EVH Wolfs have two tiny screws in each ear. How to convert a non-EVH Pickup there?

Which pickups do you want to install ?
Just curious , because the EBMM ones are pretty coveted , and Ed's later ones are rockin' too .

Wondering what brand/model you'd rather have instead , and why ?

I wouldn't replace any in my EBMMs, just the EVH Wolf. I really want to put my Wolfetone Marshallhead in there if it can be reversible.

Read up on it. It's a very kickass pickup. I had one in my Frankenstrat that died (user error) two days before a gig, but had already replaced it with a Seymour Duncan Custom 78 before I got a new one. So now I have a new Wolfetone burning a hole in my pocket. I had also used it in my homemade Bumble Bee, but it's black and the white bobbin toppers don't last long with my picking style.

I'm curious about this too. I have an old Custom Custom lying around, and I'd like to try it in my Striped series. I like the Wolfgang pup that's in there, but sometimes crave a little more warmth. As stated above, the route doesn't appear to be compatible with other brands. Anyone changed the pickup in a Striped series?

I believe some folks have just used a dremel to shape the aftermarket pickups legs. It's either that or mod the guitar.

Hey guys, are the EVH Wolf pups F-spaced? I would think so, but just read on MetroAmps that they're not. I listed mine for sale last night and they were sold within the hour. I already shipped them, so I have none to measure now. I need to make sure the next set I buy are sized correctly. What say you?

My first guess and instinct would be YES .
Too bad (for me) that you sold those so quickly . I saw it today at work , and was going to try and snag them from you ...

Actually, the Fender EVH Wolf pickups are NOT F-Spaced. Weird, right?

I use a grinder to shape the ears into the triangle shape required. You will also want short legs, and the f spacing is correct for a Floyd Rose but, I doubt anyone can tell the difference sonically due to the spacing.

Whoa. So Jedi says the stock pups are NOT f-spaced and you say they are. Which is it? This is killing me.

How do you shorten the legs?
