Default Neill Blomkamp will direct the new Alien movie

    http://www.avclub.com/article/neill-...n-movie-215472

A few days ago, Sigourney Weaver popped up to tell MTV that she’d make another Alien movie if Blomkamp is the one behind it, and apparently Fox thought that was a good enough reason to finally make the deal official.

Blomkamp himself revealed the news on Twitter tonight, posting an Instagram link to a drawing of the classic xenomorph with the message, “Um…So I think it’s officially my next film.” He even added “#alien” to make it that much more official. Variety‘s sources inside the vents at 20th Century Fox have now confirmed that Blomkamp is developing a new Alien movie, and also that it will be a separate project from the Prometheus sequel that is also in the works. That means there’s a good chance we’ll be getting a sequel to the old Alien movies and a sequel to the Alien prequel, which will hopefully help make that series as confusing as possible.

As of right now, we don’t know if Blomkamp or Fox will hold Sigourney Weaver to what she said, so Ripley’s involvement is still far from confirmed. Still, though, new Alien movie!

Not sure if I have ever been more disappointed by a movie than Prometheus.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

This is interesting timing for me. I just recorded the entire franchise a few days ago. I never saw parts 3 and 4, so I figured I would re-visit the first 2 and watch the series as a whole.

Neil Blomkamp is an interesting choice. I can't help but think that he'll produce a unique addition to the series.
Sigourney Weaver was on Fallon the other day and she said that she and Blomkamp have talked about making a new Alien movie. So, although I haven't heard anything official, it would seem she'll be part of it.

I saw Prometheus, but I have no desire to see the sequel.

Blomkamp's concept art shows Ripley with an acid scarred Hicks, which COULD indicate that he intends to pick up the threads from Aliens and retconn Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection out of existence. And, really, is that such a bad thing? I love so much of Joss Whedon's work, it's hard for me to believe he actually wrote Alien Resurrection. Here's hoping Blomkamp knocks it out of the park.

I haven't seen it, but Ridley Scott is washed up and so one should have little expectations now.

Part 3 gets too much hate. It's nowhere near great, but the best version is not that bad.

Weaver and Michael Biehn are probably too old for this.

I thought Alien 3 was a great movie, it just had the hard job of following Alien and Aliens. That's tough sledding.

I would assume Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn will not be involved if they are looking to have a re-boot of the series post Aliens.

Alien Resurrection didn't happen. It has a couple moments, but overall, that movie is a shit sandwich.

It was a visually stunning movie, but the character development was about zero. The only one I cared about was the damn android. Everyone else who died I was neither happy or sad, and that is just a poor story line, and I don't think I am the only one to feel that way.

On top of that, it was just unbelievable in certain parts. A scientist not interested in finding extra-terrestrial life "I'm going back to the ship, I don't care about this" and a biologist deciding it would be fun to play with a six foot long alien snake with rows and rows of teeth "come here pretty girl".

    Stupid.

Ridley has never really been known for good character development... Honestly, Thelma & Louise is one of the few exceptions to that.

Good choice of director for this, hopefully he gets to make the movie without too much Studio 'input'.

My biggest problem with 3 is that they killed off Newt and Hicks before the opening credits. It was like, "We don't know what to do with them, so after surviving an army of xenomorphs and the big bad alien queen, they died in a car accident on the way home." It cheapened the ending of Aliens.

The other small problem I had with 3 was the dog alien. There had not been any indication in either of the other movies that the host has any impact on the alien DNA. The host is just an incubator, not a DNA contributor. It didn't make sense to me that the alien would have dog characteristics simply because it incubated inside a dog. And, yes, I recognize that line of reasoning makes me sound incredibly nerdy.

Who ever does the movie will have a very hard task resisting the studio's pressure to use CGI and make a 3D movie. Alien needs to be made old school.

Weaver will be in this movie... But it's not surprising considering that she is starring in the directors newest movie "Chappie".

I never understood the big deal about the Hicks character to be honest. It's not like the character was well developed or anything
