Default What should a seafoam Peavey Wolf go for now?

I've been on the hunt for one for over a year now. One popped up on Reverb.com yesterday, but it was $1699 + $100 shipping AND in rough shape. I got several emails about offers being made before it disappeared. I don't think I would have gone more than $1200 shipped for that one. I see plenty of more common-looking PV Wolfs going for over $2k. What should a seafoam one in very good to excellent shape set me back?

Weren't any Seafoam ones custom shop? I imagine there's not too many and they would demand a premium.

I don't think they were custom shop. I have read they made 25 of them in one day and that was it. My wife's BMW is the exact same color. I'm almost tempted to buy a beater Wolf Spec. and have it professionally shot with the BMW paint code from my wife's car. But I would like the archtop and binding too.

Yeah, if they only made 25 of them out of the thousands and thousands of Wolfgangs they've made... That's less than even green flame Standards.

The GC in Hollywood had a green flame when I was there last May. They probably had 12 PV Wolfs on the wall then. I have a photo of me standing there when I bought an EBMM EVH around 1996 with about 20 EVHs behind me. Those were the days.

You're right. They were regular wolfs with rejected quilt tops.

The solid color gold tops also have a top as does the solid "seafoam green" color. They painted a lot of guitars gold or Seafoam when the top was rejected for one reason or another. They also used a lot of $10 tops on gold and seafoam. This would be fine tonally speaking but just would not be good for anything but a solid color cosmetically.

they actually made 100 with floyds and 100 hardtails in seafoam green. I paid the equivalent of $2k for the one I had(through a trade)
    and it was mint.

Before I spend $2k on one, I'll get a blank and have a pro paint it for me. I don't really care about the collectability or rare factor, just love the color.

Repaint a special. Flattops showcase the color better.

    Hey Rick,

I happened to be the one who bought this seafoam on Reverb. I ended up getting it for $1500 plus shipping. The neck, from the pics seems to have the most amount of damage. Paying $1500 for a Wolfy isn't out of the ordinary price range, especially for one that doesn't come up too often. It's been on my bucket list.

I'm Facebook friends with Jim DeCola, who designed the Wolfy for Peavey and he did tell me that the neck on the one I bought is not original. He was there from 1998-2000 and they didn't do the archtop seafoam in his time, so the patent pending neck is not original, which is fine with me. I've got a 99 purple flame that I'll probably swap necks with.

Let me know how that guitar is when it's delivered.

A few years ago I made an offer on a tobacco EVH Wolf on eBay as I was walking onto a plane. Before take-off the seller said he was gonna let the auction play out. When I landed, it was gone. The buyer chimed in here or on another forum that the guitar had some issues when he got it. So I was kind of glad I didn't end up with it.

Just saw a nice black EVH Wolf for $599. If it goes down another $100, I'll grab it and maybe make it a project.

I'll keep you posted. I didn't realize when I bought it that it's shipping from New Zealand, so we'll see how it does through customs. Fingers crossed.

The seafoam arrived today. It's in pretty good shape. There are some chips here and there, but it's in better shape than I expected. It needs to be reset up, but it plays really well. For $1650, total, I'm pretty happy with it.
