Default What's you favorite Franky neck?

So, I'm trying to decide which neck/era Franky I want to do. Which neck do you like (Original, beak, hockey stick?). I'm not a huge fan, feel-wise, of the older wide necks. I've been playing a 98 Wolfgang for 17 years, and I absolutely love the feel of that neck. But, I don't like the look of a Wolfgang neck on a Franky.

The neck that's on it now is slightly edged out by the Kramer beak neck. And that's only because I watched the Us Fest on Showtime(I think) way back when it first aired. Plus the Jump video. So I'm planning a beak neck Frankie at some point in my future. Although when I saw the hockey stick striped Kramer neck on it I thought it was much cooler looking. So I might go either way depending on what drops into my lap when I'm ready. Beak neck I want as accurate as possible. Neck shape and radius wise. Hockey stick bannana I'm more forgiving. Same for the Strat type on it now. Has to be super accurate for me.

I think it boils down to what era your favoring. It had the black headstock Charvel strat style for a minute. And the original big CBS style headstock with white pickguard I assume when he had just painted it red. I like that look too. But that would be after I built the Jump video version. Then the white pickguard version because I like it.

Probably 21 fret strat style would be easiest to find. And cheapest. Slightly reshaped for accuracy if you want.

The beak neck was the first neck I saw on the RBW version, so I've been partial to that...but even so, I think I like the banana and the latest Strat headstocks better.

I like all of them too , but if I had to choose - I'd go with the Strat shape .
Eddie's Frankie was usually referred to by others as a 'Super Strat' , and that headstock just completes it IMO .

I've always really liked the beak, makes you think of 1983/US Fest time....
if I were to get a replica...I'd want the beak ... except I got a replica done last year and (not really thinking) went with the strat headstock (doh!).

I've always liked the Kramer beak neck the best. Grew up with a poster on my wall where he was playing that one.

I like these two. I'm also doing the black headstock 79/80 version too.

My replica (built by a Linker!) has the Strat headstock, but my favourite would be the beak. There's something so cool about Ed in the Jump video... that neck/headstock just seems cooler because of his apparent demeanor in that video.

I always liked the beak personally. Don't get me wrong...The old school Strat headstock is great, but the beak always struck me as looking very cool and different back in the day.
I used to have a big poster of Ed playing the Diver Down tour, I think it was, and it had that Kramer neck on it. Just always looked right to me.

Oh yeah , I totally get what you guys are saying about the 'beak' . It was different and it seemed unique to Eddie - like a great many other things ! Haha
I was happy to see that the new Kramer Pacer's came with that detail intact . Click image for larger version.

Actually the new Kramers do not have an accurate beak neck. They are close at a distance, but they are really quite different from the original beak headstocks.

    Really , eh ? Hmmm I didn't know that .
I just assumed that the specs were fairly close - due to the immediate look of it , plus the description from Kramer in their listings .

Not a big deal to me , yet it's good info to know . Thanks .

Btw - my Kramer Pacer Classic had one of the nicest feeling/profile necks I've come across lately .
