Default Need help on my next guitar

My price range up to $2500. This is for a graduation gift to myself. I need help weighing the pros and cons of what I buy. I really have my eyes on a new Washburn N4. I have a Peavey Wolf standard that I love, an Ax40, Epi LP&SG, and two homebuilts. The EVH Fender stealths look really nice and I've heard great things about them. A EBMM EVH or Axis is on the table. Peavey Wolfs (in my opinion) are undervalued, and I could buy almost two with what I would pay for a N4.
Is anyone willing to discuss these with me? Anyone her ever owned an N4?

The N4's are a great guitar actually. I'm not a fan of modern Washburn's in general, but they got these things right.

The Peavey Wolfs are great, but personal preference, I'd go with one of the other two you mentioned. No slag against the Peavey.

It all comes down to what you see yourself playing the most. I'd personally go with the EBMM EVH, if I was so inclined overall tonewise for versatility, however the Washburn may be more setup for what you like with the floating Floyd.
Some people find the EBMM a great guitar, but too small for their liking. Also, and maybe I am in the minority, but I find the switch location on the EBMM EVH, as well as the N4 one of coolest design characteristics. It's convenient.

I find when EBMM relocated the selector below the volume, I found when playing them, I had to search a little more, but then I don't own one either, just a casual user from time to time, and I'm sure you'd just get used to it, but I really like the original location a lot. It's out of the way enough that you don't knock it, and it's not incumbered by other controls above it.
it just feels too low and awkward on the Axis to my taste.

I even redid one of my frankensteined dual HB Strats with the selector in that location after playing one one of the old EVH's, only I used a mini toggle instead so I didn't have to hog out too much material under the pick guard. I just drilled up into the neck pickup cavity for the wiring after using a Dremel to rout out the control cavity for the switch.
I found it so quick and comfortable to switch over as it seemed to lend itself naturally to how I play. When I'm in rhythm mode, I tend to move my hand toward the neck to accentuate the tone as well. I'm not on the neck pickup much, but either way, it just works because I'm either heading to that location, or leaving it. It's perfect design IMO.

I'd say either of those guitars.....Can't go wrong.

In that price range you can find a nice EBMM EVH. That's an investment, those guitars retain value so well.

I personally like the EVH Wolfgang features better. I'd probably aim for one of the flame top finishes with an ebony fretboard rather than the stealth finish, but whatever floats your guitar playing boat.

Yep. Original and still the best of the EVH signature line. Worth it for the neck alone I think. As close as you'll ever get to owning Ed's personal guitar.

Where his motto "it's what I use" is pretty close to being absolutely true in that instance.

Trans Green body with the neck taken from a natural quilt EBMM https://reverb.com/item/440099-ernie...93-trans-green
Still deciding on color. This one has a better quilt for sure though. I would rather have the matching headstock but the green is rare.

Do not buy it with that headstock. For that money you want the original parts. Do not get a mutt.

I'd either go for an original EBMM or have a custom guitar built to your specs.

An N4 will be easier to come by down the road, and right now I could already get that kind of sound just by replacing a pup. They don't have the nearly history the EVH has. Picking this up now logically is the right decision. I'm only going to school 5 miles from home, so it will stay there unless I'm out playing. Apart from the little scratch on the back (which doesn't bother me at all) do the linkers approve?

Les Paul's aren't guitars I find visually appealing. The shap and the weight among other things are things I like more on other guitars.

I am pleased to announce that this EBMM EVH is now mine. Well, it will be, I won the auction and it should be here next week.
Too bad I don't get to play it until June when I graduate.
Other owners, what is something I need to know apart from the paint fading?
