Default If rumors are true, is this it?

If this live project is real, this does have an air of finality for CVH, doesn't it? Ed and Al are too young and playing too well to hang it up. Just seems that Ed may not want to tie his musical future to Dave. This appears to be a final gift to the fans. I would guess that the Van Halens would now want to play what they want and with whom they want from this point. Just a guess, but it seems to gift-wrapped for this to be just another musical offering.

i do think the rumours of the last 12-24 hrs are true … now given Amazon postings have been made of the release …

And yes this does kinda seem like a bookend to things for this current lineup … Most bands go on a farewell tour, Van Halen just are not most bands but if this line up back in 2007 said they where going to move forward and them only release 1 album in 8 years, I think they have tried to work together and for whatever reason health or personalities or the well is just dry it is not working out, so we get this *live* record and a bunch of remasters … Does not bode well …

In the end I thought I would never get ADKOT, and I did … Now I just wish they would remix it so it sounded better …

Well I believe this will be it for Van Halen and the sad thing is they won't announce this as their last tour to further increase ticket sales. The reason I think this is basically because putting out a live album is a cop out and I believe proves they just have no interest in recording new music with Dave. I also believe Wolfgang probably wants to do more things besides being the bassist for Van Halen and without Wolfgang Ed has no ambition to continue on. I hope I am wrong and just expressing my feelings on the let down of an 18 month project turning out to be a live CD, not even a dvd, and that's it. Fuck the remasters, between albums, cassettes, original cd releases and the Japanese box set I already have 4 copies of the same albums. I'm not wasting one cent on another.
I can't stand that I feel this negative about my favorite band but it is what it is.

There is too much left undone for VH to be over. I could see a series of live albums being a bridge to touring and new music.

I think the main problem isn't health, it's that the brothers need to get out of their comfort zone a little. Take some chances. They've mentally painted themselves into a corner. They need to take the time to mend some fences, make (or remake) some musical connections and play some venues that VH wouldn't have even thought about in the past. Have some fun. I have a feeling that they like playing at 5150 for themselves, but haven't really enjoyed live playing in a long time.

Maybe let Dave or Wolfie make some otherwise out-of-the-box decisions. Mix it up with other bands. Heart for example. I saw them with Jason Bonham's band a few years back and it was mind boggling. Imagine what the sisters could do with Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love. Or maybe Top Jimmy.

Perhaps they could do some of Dave's solo songs, such as Yankee Rose. Al could really destroy a set of drums doing Ladies Night In Buffalo.

I don't think the problem is DLR my man. I think the well has run dry with Mr. Edward Van Halen. I hope he proves me wrong, but two albums in twenty years is proof otherwise.

The well may not have run dry, it may just not be the well we're all used to drinking from. Ed may prefer writing music more like VHIII now, and look at how well that went over with us.

The well may have ran dry but the water tower is still full of stuff ready for use. Granted, it hasn't been treated and is probably quite dirty in its current state.

You still buy into the "ten albums worth of material" line?

I knew there had to be one of you somewhere, I guess you are the one.

If you view the last 2 years in a pure reality perspective and look at 98% of 2013 with 6 - 2hr appearances and all of 2014 with nothing all... there's no other facts to support anything but the observation they have retired and played with their dogs... Along with their friend, David as well.

Why not let DLR release his solo stuff then that he already has in the bag?

DLR's acoustic concept albums, how they perform has about a 0.01% effect on Van Halen, if that much. If they become that rare older rock star hit, great, if it sells the expected 20,000 copies, that's great too.

Let the man do something outside of VH if you guys are just going to sit on your asses. I bet DLR has a growing appreciation of how Michael Anthony. You can tell that DLR wants to go out and DO things as a band, just like Mike did, and he can't.

No proof of this, just reading between the lines in comments made by DLR in interviews.

Because it's Van Halen, that is all that needs to be said.

The sites are all blank, because that's how "exciting" this "project" is.
