Default A 1977-78 Frankenstein replica that stays in tune

All of this talk about the "master-built" original B&W 1977-78 Frankenstein replica had me revisiting my own version of that guitar.

This thing has a simple standard Fender Stratocaster tremolo, there is no locking nut, however, the nut is made of graphite.

It's a wonder, I gotta tell ya -- but pleasantly cool. Not my greatest performance but a good demo of it staying in great tune. Enjoy!

Mine does not stay in tune, I have to bend the high strings to get the regular tension back, I'm almost certain it's the nut that lets the strings slip when slacked and doesn't let them return unless I specifically pull them out.

It's funny in a way , how I've had certain tuning problems using guitars WITH Floyd bridges and locking nuts ... Geez

Cool video , nice guitar , and good playing Kevin . I like how you just 'go for it' in all of your clips .

Yeah no kidding about the Floyd Rose...there are lots of things that can go wrong with keeping a Floyd Rose in tune just like a regular Fender tremolo unit. In my experience, a Floyd a certain point is reached where it gets set up right and it stays pretty well in tune.

The tuning on nearly all guitars drifts to a certain degree as you play depending on finger pressure, bending, slides...all kinds of things will make it drift to at least some degree. Staying in tune to where it is more or less unnoticeable by an audience or to where you are close enough in tune with other instruments to where any drifting is unnoticeable is a whole art in itself!

The guitar sounds great and is working well Kev...are you using a Graphtech nut? You said "graphite" earlier, but I would think you meant Graphtech?

I'm trying to get a minute to make a clip with my '77-'78 replica, but I just started a new job and my wife may have our baby on Monday (!) so I haven't had a spare second to make a clip...

    I'm sure you're correct about that nut. It's from 1987 or 1988.

Congrats on the jobs and the kiddo!!!
