Default "Master-built" B&W Franky replica coming?

Swiped this from this post by bjpack in the Main forum: EVH Event in DC on 2/12/15 and figured it was worth discussing in the Guitar Room...

    http://www.antimusic.com/news/15/Jan...an_Event.shtml

For the event Van Halen and Fender will donate a master-built replica of Van Halen's infamous white-with-black-stripe Stratocaster. This is the guitar that changed the guitar world in 1978 when Van Halen cross-pollinated Gibson electronics with Fender body and neck designs. To represent the path of progressions in his instrument designs, a Stealth finished EVH Brand Wolfgang will also be included to represent his modern-day workhorse.

In addition to the guitars, Van Halen and Fender Musical Instruments Corp. will also donate an EVH Brand 5150-III amplifier and speaker cabinet to embody the journey and progression of his amplifier designs from the early '70s through the modern day.
So do you think they might be close to releasing a limited edition replica of the B&W Franky? Or do you think this is just a one-off for the Smithsonian?

I'd guess it's probably a typo and omitted the "red" out of the description...

I thought the same at first but the next sentence, "This is the guitar that changed the guitar world in 1978 when Van Halen cross-pollinated Gibson electronics with Fender body and neck designs."
The RBW wasn't around in 1978.

Also he already donated a RBW one to the Smithsonian several years ago.

I'm betting it's a one time thing. The b/w Franky. If they sold them they'd be very limited and probably at least $10,000. I'd love to have one. It'll never happen for me. It would be cool if they sold them though. I'll just have to keep loving my b/w Stripe Series. It's a great guitar!

It would be great if they built an exact (well we know they can't make it exact because they sure didn't do that with the R/B/W Frankenstein "replica") replica of the '77-'78 era black and white striped Frankenstein with a standard Fender tremolo with Ed's setup for keeping it in tune. THAT would be the best Frankenstein replica...better than any official Van Halen replica guitar ever made.

That's awesome, would be cool if they offered a limited run like the RBW Franky.

I'm just piecing things together here, but from what I gather, it's likely that Chip has built a replica of the 77-78 B&W as a one-off for this event. That said, Allan -- I do believe you would pretty much have to be right. If this is a one-off, it would have to be to spec -- or at least pretty damn close, as in -- no locking nut, etc.

The phrase "master built" certainly has to distinguish it from the standard EVH brand B&W you can just get off the shelf at GC.

If this is the one you're talking about, it's cool but is not a replica, is not "master built", and isn't quite Smithsonian quality.

The EVH striped VH I replica is a great guitar . I'm a proud owner ...

Part of me thinks that there's 'no way' Ed would allow a guitar that isn't one of these , to be included in the upcoming sermon . You know - Floyd , WG pickup , EVH branded everything else ... Haha

Then again , a masterbuilt guitar like his original b/w design could be the only way to go ? Not sure even Ed recalls all the mojo he laid on that one !

That's not what I was referring to. A replica of the BW was made.
