    Default EVH and Billy Joel?

    Never heard about this before----

“Originally I thought of having Eddie Van Halen produce ‘Storm Front,’” Billy Joel told Rolling Stone. “I think he’s a fantastic musician. And I like the energy in Van Halen records. Our schedules didn’t line up, but we had a fun meeting at this Italian restaurant in Manhattan. People would look at us and say, “Isn’t that him and him? What are they doing? … Mick Jones and I hit it off right away. But we didn’t hit it off like he was going to be a pushover. He had very strong opinions. But I liked that. I respected that.”

I wonder how this would have worked out? At the very least "We Didn't Start The Fire" would not exist in it's current form (not sure if that's good or bad).

Plus I'm sure these sessions would not have been at 5150.
    The song ain't dirty
It's really just the way we sing it

Was never a big Billy Joel fan back in the day but I saw him about 8 yrs ago and he's awesome.
EVH 1979: Well, actually it's not much of a vacation, because we run everything ourselves. We design our own album cover, we have to be in the office every day to sign checks - the whole corporation revolves around us. Nothing can be done without our approval. We even have photo approval.

One of NYC's most in-demand sideman, JohnnyG has added musical muscle to a wide range of top acts, including Edgar Winter, Roy Buchanan, The Turtles, and has recorded with Eddie Van Halen.

I think that's a great idea... Here are a couple of folks I'd like to see them record with:

The Wilson Sisters... Can you imagine? With Nancy on acoustic, could be killer.

Shaw/Blades - those two are serious songwriters and vocalists - harmonies and hooks for miles.

Jerry Cantrell - that would be some heavy shit!

Billy Joel - who knows what the two of the could cook up?

Patty Smythe - let's hear what it would have sounded like...

    Any other suggestions?

Got to be one of the worst pictures of Eddie from that era, the face is so distorted it looks like an imitator.

No kidding. I often thought Eddie and Valerie looked much more like brother and sister than married couple.

The canadian artist Satch Jordan....Who, incidentally, was rumored to have been considered as a replacement for DLR before Sammy Hagar was ultimately chosen. The gal has serious pipes and writing skills..

I'd personally like to hear EVH collaborate more with that DLR dude. He makes some really great, timeless music with that guy.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!
