Assuming a 2015 tour... propose the set list

Let's hope for a 2015 tour and assume they change up the set list. What do you think the set list will have? Here goes my take:

    Unchained - best opener
Hot for Teacher - love how they did these back to back in 1984
    She's the Woman
    Runnin' With the Devil
    Everybody Wants Some
Me Wise Magic - maybe THAT is what took 18 months - for them to re-learn this!
As Is - was soundchecked on last tour
Light Up the Sky - ditto
I'm the One - hey, it is in the Tokyo set that is allegedly coming out on CD!
Mean Street/Pretty Woman - they seem to like these together
    Al's solo
    Drop Dead Legs
    ...And the Cradle Will Rock
    Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love
    Feel Your Love Tonight
    Dave's solo/Stay Frosty
    Hang 'Em High
    Bottom's Up!
    Ed's solo/Eruption/You Really Got Me

    Encores:

    Panama
    Jump

Deep Cuts: On Fire, DOA, Light up the Sky, Drop Dead Legs, House of Pain
    BOV1: MWM, CGSTNM

Drop Al's solo and replace with a 10-15 minute Sammy Era instrumental medley. Give Dave a break in the middle of the show and stop ignoringa great era and great tunes.

I doubt we'll get much variation from the last two tours, but I'd like to hear Sinner's Swing, As Is, Light Up The Sky, Drop Dead Legs and In A Simple Rhyme sprinkled in amongst the usuals.

You know, I don't mean to diminish from this thread, but I couldn't care less if Van Halen did even one more live show. I'm to the age where I want to hear, and keep, new music. Live shows in the scheme of things are fleeting moments. I will always have those memories. But recorded, produced, new tracks, I will always be able to listen to, even until I'm 81 years old lying on my deathbed.

I've listened to Ain't Talkin' Bout Love hundreds and hundreds of times (it's the track I start with to make sure that I have my left/right headphones in the right place). And I've seen it live. The live shots aren't what moves me though. It's thrilling, yes, even spectacular to see the entire arena pump their fists at "Hey Hey Hey," but it's not like the recorded version. It's a different moment.

I want new music. I want to hear the 10 vault-albums we've been hearing about. I want to hear the Edward/David magic. These fuckers are 20-30 years older than me, and I want them to give me more new stuff to listen to and to appreciate before they (and especially I) kick off.

I would love to hear them play Secrets. One of my favorite songs, and one I think Dave can sing well still.

I think putting a good set together is an art. The 2012 set pales in comparison to 2007. That set had great ebb and flow. Barreling out of the gate, nice momentum, keep the interest, drop it a little, drop it again, build it, build, more anticipation, boom! I mean go back and look at that set. Songs flowed. The 2012 set had great tunes, but 2007 flowed better.

I'd just love to hear them do something a bit different, to me 2012 was great playing but stale. Apart from the occasional deep cut of course.

Understandably they are a nostalgia greatest hits tour type band now but it would be amazing to see them bring out some stuff from the last album and maybe a cover tune or 2 done the VH way. The setlist needs a big shakeup and more contrast than in 2012. My opinion of course!

hey Ricky, I'm not picking on you of course, but I'm trying to understand how a tour with several new VH/ROTH tracks hot off the presses from ADKOT, as well as a tour sprinkled with several deep cuts could have been any less stale?

Or did you mean that you saw them too many times that tour? '-)

No worries at all, just my opinion of course, and you make a good point about the new tracks/deep cuts. I guess what I meant was that the show I saw was very much one intensity level (massive) I'm sure people will disagree with me , but an intensity break down with an acoustic track or some tracks that aren't quite as full on (secrets, you're no good etc) I think would help give songs like unchained , panama , hot for teacher etc much more oomph and have more flow in the setlist.

We know they will play the usual hits, if they have new material to mix into a set list there is no way everyone will get the deep cuts they want.
