Default Kramer Baretta Special Tremelo Question

Just picked up a cheap white Kramer Baretta
Special (looks very close to the Eddie Baretta ad where Ed is holding the white Baretta with the rosewood fret board). It's got some cheap tremelo system on it, it's ok, but I was curious what options I could swap it out for. Anyone swapped out the stock Kramer Baretta Special trem with something better?

Any tips anyone can share is greatly appreciated.

Put a Floyd on it! Probably have to drill new holes which may be a deal breaker. Plus nut routing. I'd do it though.

I'd like to put a black Floyd on it, but seems like it might be a little tricky.

The Blade Runner is really just a better built, more stable, and better sounding design of a standard trem. It should inherently keep better tune because it consistently returns to zero point better than a regular standard trem. If you wanted to increase tuning stability, a graphite nut and locking tuners would be a good idea.

There is always the original Super Vee double locking tremolo. It is designed to be installed without modification to your guitar, and give you the advantages of a double locking trem.

It's not tricky...just take it to a qualified guitar tech. It shouldn't cost very much...$60 maybe?

Just picked up a black Floyd Rose trem, graphite nut, black locking tuners and a Wolfgang pickup. I'm stoked! Looking forward to upgrading this guitar.

Sounds cool. Just a tip with the graphite nut. If you want it to last longer, get some dry graphite lock lube. You can get it at Home Depot. Graphite nuts are great and reduce string creak or pinging when using the trem, but they tend to wear quicker, especially on the wound strings. The winds tend to saw the material because it's softer than say bone or some of the newer composite materials, and you can end up with fret buzz after a while.

The dry lube applied to the slots helps reduce that friction and premature wear. Sounds great though man. I love locking tuners.

So are you going for a Guthrie Govan kind of setup? He's the first guy I ever saw using a Floyd Rose bridge with just a standard, non-locking, non-Floyd nut...well he uses a non-fine tuner Floyd, but he just uses a bone nut and lubes it with NutSauce.

Im gonna give it a shot. I might resort to a locking nut (and try Kevin's approach by routing the space for the locking nut). Should be a cool experiment.

It plays ok. I'm hoping the Floyd Rose will improve the playability. The pickup sounds pretty good too, but I'm going to replace it.

Know anybody in the Dallas area that can do it for $60? So far, every body I've talked to about the job wants upwards of $200.00. I may go Blade Runner if the cost to route the Floyd is too expensive.
