    Default "In a simple rhyme"

I rarely post about stuff on the Dave years, but this song over the years just keeps getting better and better. I was listening too it today turned up pretty loud, and it has all the ingrediants a VH classic should have, but a bit more...
I mean, every member shines on it and you can hear it loud and clear.
Mikes bass is killer in it, and he plays the coolest bass riff near the end.
    Eddies solo ofcourse is killer.
Alex Drums spot on, and love Daves writing and vocals...
PLUS the killer harmonys of Mike and Eddie. The harmonys at the bridge section take you to another place, and Dave is right when he sings the line "You can hear the angels singing...".
Ted Templeman and Donn Landee nailed the production of this song.

In our favorites thread I listed this as my favorite VH song. I think it has everything in it that makes VH great, that you can point someone to who knows nothing about VH and get a great snapshot of a high point for the band.

I know that DLR is not the greatest singer, but I have always felt that he excels at setting a mood and tone for the song with his voice and melodies, if there is anything that he really brings to the table is that when he is on as a singer/songwriter in the studio, he puts out great material.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

Totally agree... This is an incredible song that encompasses all VH ingredients. Would've been good as a single. Has lots of changes so maybe not so radio friendly, but something tells me it could've been a big hit.

My favorite song off this album. I know EWS gets all the glory and RD gets played a lot in concert but this song I've always enjoyed.

I've never really gotten the love for this song ... Everyone knows that I'm a Dave , Sammy , AND Gary fan of Van Halen - so it's not a bias .
Just wasn't a favorite song of mine . WACF had some blazing material though !!!
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

    Good call!!

I dig when the bridge starts ramping up, everything's getting more and more intense, and then just as the whole thing boils over -- that scream!!!

Awesome song , just learned it a couple of weeks ago. Love the changes from fast and heavy to the cool and slow. Eddie really brings it on this one.
~ I like the way the line runs up the back of her stockings ~
