Default Chris Rock On Race Relations, Obama And Bush

Comedian Chris Rock doesn't think there's "race relations" in the United States. Rather, white people have acted crazy and today they act less crazy.

"Hereís the thing. When we talk about race relations in America or racial progress, itís all nonsense. There are no race relations. White people were crazy. Now theyíre not as crazy," Rock said in a Q & A with Frank Rich published in New York magazine. "To say that black people have made progress would be to say they deserve what happened to them before."

Rock's argument is that there's misdirected attention toward how race relations have improved in the United States. It's not that African Americans have gotten better, it's that white people have gotten better about how they treat African Americans.

"So, to say Obama is progress is saying that heís the first black person that is qualified to be president. Thatís not black progress. Thatís white progress," Rock said. "Thereís been black people qualified to be president for hundreds of years. If you saw Tina Turner and Ike having a lovely breakfast over there, would you say their relationshipís improved? Some people would. But a smart person would go, ďOh, he stopped punching her in the face.Ē Itís not up to her. Ike and Tina Turnerís relationship has nothing to do with Tina Turner. Nothing."

Rock also said that former President George W. Bush had an advantage that President Barack Obama does not.

"Thereís an advantage that Bush had that Obama doesnít have. People thinking youíre dumb is an advantage. Obama started as a genius. Itís like, What? Iíve got to keep doing that?" Rock said. "Thatís hard to do! So itís not that Obamaís disappointing. Itís just his best album might have been his first album."

ďEverybody wanted Michael Jordan, right? We got Shaq,Ē Rock said. ďThatís not a disappointment. You know what I mean? We got Charles Barkley. Itís still a Hall of Fame career.Ē

ďThe president should be graded on jobs and peace, and the other stuff is debatable. Do more people have jobs, and is there more peace? I guess thereís a little more peace. Not as much peace as weíd like, but I mean, thatís kind of the gig. I donít recall anybody leaving on an up.Ē

Rock added that the left was disappointed that Obama didnít govern to them the way Bush did to the right. ďThe thing about George Bush is that the kid revolutionized the presidency. How? He was the first president who only served the people who voted for him. He literally operated like a cable network

Everybody wanted Michael Jordan, but we got Greg Oden.

And saying he's better than Bush is just not a complement. Great, you are better than one of the worst Presidents in US history, congratulations for exceeding that incredibly low bar.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I guess Obama is like the tallest midget. Or the coolest guy at a Village People concert.

    Wait....what?

Clearly Chris Rock doesn't know what he's talking about. What major piece of bipartisan legislation has he pushed signed into law? He has gone out of his way to appease those on the left with Obamacare, the stimulus, immigration, foreign policy, taxes, unemployment insurance, etc.

Bush's major piece of legistlation, No Child Left Behind, was co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy...and look how that turned out.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

I think the Medicare expansion for prescription drugs was Bush's major piece of legislation, and unfortunately for us and our future generations...the Patriot Act.

Default Chris Rock: Hollywood is 'racist' against Mexicans

Chris Rock: Hollywood is 'racist' against Mexicans, ‘there's a slave state in L.A.’

Writing for THR's current issue, the 'Top Five' writer, director and star tackles Hollywood's third rail as he explains what it's really like to be black in the entertainment industry (hint: you get asked to be Huggy Bear, not Starsky or Hutch) and the "slave state" of Mexicans: "If Kevin Hart is playing 40,000 seats a night, and Jon Stewart is playing 3,000 ... why does Kevin Hart have to cross over?"

I remember when they were doing Starsky & Hutch, and my manager was like, "We might be able to get you the part of Huggy Bear," which eventually went to Snoop Dogg. I was like: "Do you understand that when my brother and I watched Starsky & Hutch growing up, I would play Starsky and he would play Hutch? I don't want to play f—ing Huggy Bear. This is not a historical drama. This is not Thomas Jefferson. It's a movie based on a shitty TV show, it can be anybody. Who cares. If they want me to play Starsky or Hutch, or even the bad guy, I'm down. But Huggy Bear?"

Never should have re-made Starsky and Hutch. There, problem solved.
