Well, with Dave readying his DVD (and it definitely has nothing to do with VH), I guess we could say it's fair to confirm that all these rumors are crap. The band obviously aren't doing anything right now, and Dave wouldn't be working on this film project if the band were readying a CD release for this year. There's no way Eddie would go for that, and there's no way Dave would be doing it.

Ever think that there may be a chance that DLR was already working on this video awhile ago and had already reserved the studio, bought props, hired actors, asked other musicians to schedule their time, etc.. I am sure these things don't just come together overnight and most places want non-refundable downpayments on goods and services. He would stand to lose a lot of money if the video did not get made. I think the brothers would understand that and allow him to finish the project before announcing they are back together.

WOW!!! HOLYFUCKINGFUCK!!! What kind of Twilight Zone am I living in? What kind of Viagra-Testosterone mix are these 50 year old + guys on? I never thought I'd hear another Dave and Eddie album again. If I did, I thought it would be a mid-paced affair like the Rolling Stones or later day AC/DC. After the TATTOO single I was ready for a poppy album from old guys, with a few nods to harder rock (She's A Woman and Bullethead) and I would have been happy with that.

I NEVER THOUGHT I'D BE GETTING A FULL-THROTTLE HARD ROCK, HEAVY METAL, BALLS TO THE WALL, FUCKING VAN HALEN THRASH METAL ALBUM!!!

I suppose that could be possible, but I'm really skeptical. I mean, he did do CRAZY FROM THE HEAT while he was still technically in the band, but...I don't know. He apparently filmed this stuff maybe four months ago. Why would he be going through that if the band were working on a CD for Spring release. Let's face it, there is no VH CD coming out this spring. If there were, there would be a ton of REAL leaks by now and the band would be working hard on it and starting promotion. I don't believe it's coming out this year even.

This sounds like a pretty interesting project to me.
Looks like Dave wants to make a big splash this time. For VH fans, I think it's good news. If Dave can get back in the public eye on a good note, then they can make an even bigger deal out of his return to the band. I know it's wishfull thinking but you never know.

Now I just have to get a DVD player.

Sacrilege! DVD is the only way to go! I hate VHS now. I have a 32" screen (nice size for my living room) with component video input, a Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS surround home system with five speakers and a subwoofer...watching a movie is an exciting experience every time. I am very exciting about Dave's DVD, but I still think it means that no reunion is happening.

I have an as of yet unrealized fear that this DVD project is going to be a disaster. Combine the worst elements of YFLM and DLR Band, and you'll see what I'm afraid of. None of the Picaso Brothers' magic. The images and text on Dave's website are fueling my fear.

And no, I don't believe for a second there's a VH reunion going on right now.

if the dvd is anything like his website, it will undoubtedly suck.
what the hell is that website anyway?
it's always been a mishmosh of stupid pics, bad art, and messages veiled in coded BS. and on top of that, it takes forever to load even with a broadband connection.

but that's just my opinion. i just don't get it.

I kinda dig it. It's very Dave, but I do agree about the load time. Oh well. Art is cool that way, what one sees as "bad art", another may think its unique.

i hear ya, diddle.
i went to it in the hopes of seeing something different than usual and it really rubbed me the wrong way.
i'm just not a dave-persona guy. (this has nothing to do with how awesome he was as the vh singer back in the 70s and 80s. at least then he had VH music to work with.)

You're right, Dave is an aquired taste for sure. Reminds me of horseraddish. Took me years to realize how good it is. To each his own!

I'm afraid it will be released with very limited fanfare and then fade off quickly into obscurity...people who aren't already fans aren't going to rush out to buy his dvd ... he needs a big release - like an awesome single.

i'll buy it though, that's for sure

Just because DLR put together a (solo) DVD doesn't mean it will actually see the light of day.

VH was set to release an official "Live In Toronto" video at the end of the Balance tour and it got shelved.

As far I know, no actual release date for the Dave DVD has been announced. It might not even be finished.

look you fuckers(in the best english sense!)i'm drunk its late and i've just read this and after one post in 6 months i must reply finally!!van halen is a beautiful thing, musically all the way but dave was and is still the insparation and he just wants his old buddies/enemies to kick arse like no over band in the states hard rock history ever did?what i'm struggling to say in my current state is dave roth knows he is not perfect but he knows damm well that he shared a moment of such long lasting magic with fellow foreign outcasts which created such heart felt lets get on the beach and fucking feel good about life finally music.he is just damaged goods baby.
i'll even start a new line for you guys and before i really go into one i must say its been fun looking at this site for three years...anyway back to dave..his dvd will so rock us all, especially after all this that i just can't wait.maybe i should come to the states and join the starwars cue but really be there to grab daves dvd because i don't know about you guys and girls but i need some dave/vh and he is doing more and creating and seems pushing his personality more maybe even finishing his original eat em and smile consept movie(vh loved shitting on that concept back when and yet we fans would have dave/vh starwars/wisard of oz movie to behold for all time, ever watched hotforteacher!!)
took a break but still fired up,if i buy a dave dvd,i'll watch it with girl first and if i was a betting man we will all be reminded who really so much gave us all and without he,this shit would not exist.I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU I SALUTE DAVIDLEEROTH,he made my life better and i will buy his dvd and on my own enjoy his crazy shit because we have marilyn mason but at the same time we need "life is dull but dave lee/eddie/alex/mikee suns up and life aint so bad music"and i admire dave for his approach.
hey sammy guys i will say this only once,2why can't this be love"and"dreams"i loved as songs made by any band, shit i love those tunes but VH was always about circus, beethoven, colour and homour.work it out,get it and show, tell this band that they are a,the best hard rock, totally un-supportlly band in the world with more magic hanging than harry potter&wand thought possible..
on that note i bail.hope you understand me surfers............
love junglejimxx
ps.just read through this shit and yes i am drunk but those of you that likes a drink might, just might get it....
