My kids love those movies, and to be honest I was hoping it would be good, and it might be, trailers can be deceiving as we all know.

But that left me unimpressed. A genetically altered killer dinosaur gets loose? Maybe I am being too critical, but that just seem pretty ordinary at this point.

They are turning this into the dinosaur version of the Rocky series

These are the kind of green screen, two weekend wonders Hollywood is turning out anymore.

Maybe I am old, but I miss the older movies that had actual plots and the like. These computer generated re-makes kill it for me

I don't get a chance to go to the movies much these days anyway, but I think I'll pass on this one. It looks like Jaws 3 but with a dinosaur instead of a shark.

Every movie they've made since the first one has subsequently tarnished the glory of the original.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

Exactly. How is this any different than the original ? Is there really no good original writers left in Hollywood ? All it is is remakes these days.

I was hoping to be intrigued by this trailer. But, instead I'm disappointed. Looks like this will be a rental/download...maybe.

One thing I'll say is interesting about it is that, as far as the first book went, this is Hammond's realized vision.

And in the original book, Hammond wanted to reengineer the dinosaurs. They were much faster in real life as Hollywood had portrayed them, so Hammond thought his guests would be disappointed in them. He wanted them more like the "movies."

He also thought that the mistakes were all in the engineering. If I remember correctly, he even blamed Henry Wu for it, a minor character in the film.

The Wu character is in this film, so I'll be interested if it ties into the first book that way.

Why Steven Spielberg begged Crichton to write a sequel only to not follow it at all is a mystery to me.

There should be an entire " Disneyland " styled amusement park based upon this already.

I dunno, I have always enjoyed these movies. Dumb fun value to some extent I guess. The 'genetic engineering' is a bit of a worry though.

Seems like they are combining Deep Blue Sea and the original Jurassic Park and making a movie of it.

    No thanks.

Rental, or even wait until it is on Netflix.

Well they both ended up being terrible, so it doesn't really make a difference. I love Crichton, but that second book seemed forced from the first page to the last.

While the book was a disappointment, it was much more interesting than the film. There were some cool moments, plus the bad guy was at least a character from the first book (and film) which made more sense, and the dinosaurs at the end with the camouflage ability would have been spectacular on film.
