Default Tig from Sons of Anarchy fronts a Van Halen cover band?? ;)

So when Tig isn't busy digging up dead bodies, dating trannies, and creating random acts of Mayhem on "Sons of Anarchy" he can be found fronting a Van Hagar cover band! (Or is that Jimmy Hart?)

Pretty damn good singer. Sam's shit is hard as hell to sing, well done, whoever he is.

    A
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

I hate when guys play bass with a pick. If you listen to the chunka chunka rhythm you can hear the pick scraping against the strings.

    Vocals are pretty good though.

I don't hate the ballady radio friendly Hagar songs as much as some around here (I love Feels So Good, so shoot me ) but having said that I wonder what the overall gut reaction or impression would be to the Hagar years these days if they focused more on the Good Enough/Judgment Day side of the band in the setlists and if that's what radio played instead. I think if I turned on my classic rock radio station and heard Judgment Day instead of When It's Love and Best of Both Worlds instead of Why Can't This Be Love and AFU instead of Can't Stop Loving You, Hagar-era VH would have a totally different reputation.

I never play bass with a pick, for some reason it just doesn't sound right to me. I think in a lot of cases the guys that do are guys that started on a six string and transferred over.

Well, Sons of Anarchy is ending, so best to line up your next job while you still have one!

Some prominent bass players have used a pick, Chris Squire for one (does Lemmy? I think he does), but I generally prefer it when they don't. I think John Entwistle is one of the rare famous guys who seemed to play a lot with a pick and a lot without a pick from what I remember. But I'm a guitarist so what do I know?

Nikki Sixx always seems to play with a pick live, and I think Gene Simmons does as well. Who knows in the studio.

Geddy Lee doesn't, and that's all I have to say about that!

There is a place for it in theory, if you want a more staccato sound you should us your pick, but I just don't like how it sounds.

I have even started playing guitar Mark Knopfler (sp?) and not using a pick. I'm just a chord strummer on guitar anyway.
