    Default Taylor Swift

    http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/05/showbi...html?hpt=en_c1

    1.3 million in a week in 2014... that's like 5 millions in 1990.

I don't understand her appeal. I thought kids didn't buy CDs. So who's buying it?

Lots of older women like pop.

she's got a big tween audience, no doubt why she did a pop album instead of country lite this time around

you have to admit she writes songs that stick with you like a tick

she could have been a jingle writer

I know its popular to rip on Taylor Swift but I do admire her because she actually is an artist. She writes her own tunes and even though she isn't a good singer, sings them live. Also plays guitar and piano.

So I give her credit. Much more so than a lot of other artists out there who put vocals on some song a producer presents. Especially in her ex "genre" of country where a lot of outside writers are used. All the big stars don't get involved in their songs. She does so kudos to her.

Yeah her music is sappy but she has a knack for coming up with jingles. Nothing wrong with that.

She has talent and she is easy on the eyes.

    Not a bad combo.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

I agree with everything said thus far in this thread. And even though my inner thoughts keep telling me to not like it, that "Shake It Off" song sure is a guilty pleasure earworm. I cringe when I hear it but it's so catchy that I hate myself for loving it. Its hooks are infectious which obviously has translated into big sales.

I am unfamiliar with anything else in her catalog though since modern country produced from the Nashville music machine is probably my least favorite music on the planet.

Taylor Swift finally won me over when I watched one of her videos (on a country video channel, ironically) featuring footage taken from her live performances. The song wasn't live, but the footage was.

She's a good, "hooky" songwriter, and it appears that she puts on a helluva live show. I also just get the impression that she is a good and decent person, and she seems as down-to-earth as a megastar could possibly be.

More power to her, I say. I'd go see her show, if someone bought my ticket.

Debbie Gibson wrote her own songs too and played instruments. To me she's just this generation's Debbie Gibson. Good or bad, I'm not judging.

She has this breathy "come save me" voice that is sort of irresistible...

She got my daughter through high school and now two years into college... A great role model as far as I'm concerned, and yes I will be buying tickets so she can go see her live again for the 5th time...
She's got hooks like crazy and I have no problem listening to all of her material...

She is a natural talent. She was writing songs for Country artists in Nashville since she was 14. Fellas, she is a songwriter .

Yeah I guess she is. That said, I think she is bigger than Debbie ever was. She does seem pretty down to earth as somebody said. For instance an artist/producer/songwriter I dig, Butch Walker posed a question of what song he should cover/record. Somebody mentioned You Belong to Me so he ended up recording it in a night. Video taped it as well. (You can find it on YouTube) Total different rendition. She had no idea about it but when she found out, she liked it. When she played on the Grammy's with Stevie Nicks, she invited him up and they did his rendition. She then worked with him on her last album. Could have took it a totally different way but ended up rolling with it.

This reply has nothing to do with me not being a fan of her's....what i am confused about is how is she able to sell so many cd's? I thought the only people who bought cd's these days were older people like myself who do not download and the citizens of Japan?? Her fanbase is so young, and i certainly was under the impression that younger people do not buy cd's?? Can anyone explain?

    Autographed panties included?

Mongrammed tissues for after when your boyfriend breaks up with you?

I don't know. I would think some of the numbers are digital CD download via Itunes, Amazon, etc While this album isn't country, country fans are probably more prone to buying CD"s than other genres
