If DLR and Sammy go on tour, what kind of venues will they play, theaters or arenas? I think a DLR/SH combo could draw 10,000 fans

I think that in today's economic climate that it would a safer bet for all parties involved to play theaters. I'm from Long Island, NY so I'm hoping for Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh. I believe it seats about 12,000 (give or take 1,000). By playing theaters it gives the tour a great likelihood of "selling-out" on a regular basis.

I'd go see them at the Gorge

I could see them playing arenas, if Sammy tours with Planet Us, OR Dave gets an EEAS reunion going, if not the theaters.

only way they'd fill arenas is with a third band headlining. i don't think Sam and Dave alone would be enough of a draw for 16,000+ size arenas.

There is no way these two alone would draw more than an arena sized crowd. Without Ed they just don't have the punch to draw huge interest. Think about the sorry draws they have gotten on their own? I went to see Sam down in texas a couple years back and there were only a thousand at best. Add dave's loyal followers and you have maybe a few thousand total. Plus ad a few Van Halen fans that are fooled into thinking this is some kind of reunion and you have maybe 5000. Let's face it, these guys may be the coolest frontmen in the business but by themselves they don't have what it takes to attract huge draws.

Due to the lousy state of todays' music, I have no doubt that with decent marketing, these guys could fill arena-size (10-15,000) venues. People are starving for good rock. Plus the nature of this "unholy" alliance would bring out alot more than just fans of these two.

My opinion is if they keep the ticket price economical, then maybe they could pull off sheds this summer (8,000 - 12,000) depending on the area, a real good opener could help too.

Also if they were to play mostly VH material, and it was advertisedthat way, then yes they could pull off the sheds!!!!

Add Mike in the mix, and no prob....

I agree, with reasonable ticket prices, and with Mikey also on the bill, 8,000 - 10,000 seat smaller arenas should be no prob to sell out.

First off I would like to thank all of you guys for responding to the thread I started on this subject in the Speculation forum last week.

Let's take my hometown as a example, here are the basic concert venues, not including clubs.

    A.J Palumbo Center: Indoor 6,500

    I.C. Light Amp. Outdoor 6,500-7,000

    Mellon Arena Indoor 17,000

    Post Gazette Pavilion Outdoor 25,000

    Heinz Field Outdoor 65,000

I honestly think that this tour falls in between I.C. Light Amp. and the Mellon Arena. I think if tickets are priced right this tour may average between 10,000-12,000 a city. Hagar played I.C. Light Amp. in '97 for about 3,500 and again in '99 for about 6,000. Roth hasn't been here in a long time. He was going to play a club in '94, but that show was cancelled if I recall right. I think this might be a good pavilion only show at the P.G. Pavilion. That's where they don't sell lawn seats and capicity is cut in half. VH played a full capicity show there in '98 and only drew 7,700. A far cry from the sellout they had there in '95.
