Default "Lite Roast" - Sam & Vic acoustic album out 13th October

Spotted this on Sam's facebook page:
FREE SAMMY HAGAR SHOW WED OCT 1st at Sammy Hagar's Rockin' Island Bar & Grill at 6pm! Sammy and Vic Johnson will perform a set of acoustic songs from their upcoming album "Lite Roast", set for a release on Oct 13th. Portions of the event will be recorded for a TV special that will benefit the city and community of Cabo San Lucas, recently devastated by Hurricane Odile. The show is FREE and First Come, First Serve! Please come out and show your support for the residents of this beautiful city and enjoy an acoustic set from your favorite rocker!

So I had a quick search for the new album.... Details from the Amazon UK site:
"I realize that when I played my songs acoustically it made me sing different. It brought a new light to the lyrics that I'd written throughout my career," says Sammy Hagar. For the first time in his career, Sammy Hagar releases an acoustic album of some of his well-known songs. Featuring 11 tracks, Sammy is joined by long time band guitarist of the "Waboritas," Vic Johnson, on guitar and vocals. "It's very live, very personal with Vic accompanying me on guitar and singing background vocals. No overdubs...I think that my hardcore fans are really going to love it."

    Track Listings
    1. Red Voodoo
    2. One Sip
    3. Finish What Ya Started
    4. Eagles Fly
    5. The Love
    6. Father Sun
    7. Dreams
    8. Deeper Kinda Love
    9. Who Has The Right
    10. Sailin
    11. Halfway To Memphis

UK release date seems to be 14th October for some reason: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lite-Roast-S.../dp/B00N3O4A2Y

I wonder if he's having to pay any royalties to Ed & Alex for the use of Dreams & FWYS?

he's got some really cool song choices.

I've always really loved who has the right, sam just sounds like he's really singing from his heart on that tune.

Another new Sammy album coming out in a couple of weeks?! WTF? I knew there were rumblings about this but jeez.

    That's awesome.

Another version of "Halfway to Memphis" is kinda weird and I think it would've been cool to throw in 1 early '80s, 1 '70s solo, and 1 Montrose song to represent the whole career, but who can complain.

I'll be getting the album for sure.
    Nice cover, too.

Just hope that the songs are new renditions with perhaps different pacing and vibe than the originals. Alot of acoustic albums are simply softer sounding albums with less instruments, but keeping the same structure, tempo, etc unchanged. Hope that's understandable...

My favorite acoustic album is Alanis Morissette's unplugged album which really takes the original song and makes it into something completely different.

Some of the songs are pretty much "acoustic" to begin with, such as Eagles Fly... wonder what will be different than the many solo live renditions of the song so far.

Amazon Germany is offering it for a whopping 20.98 Euros as an import, around $ 26...

What I find cool is something different. Sammy wrote Vic Johnson's name next to him, and both names are written in the same fonts. It's a great gesture, it shows Sammy is a very generous guy. Because in the general public, Sammy Hagar is a household name but pretty much nobody knows Vic Johnson. Sammy's thanking him for his loyalty and giving him a major boost. Very cool.

I love Sam but that album cover looks like two guys who were up all night playing "Sheath my Sword".

No time for Chickenfoot but enough time to release old tunes acoustically?....

Apples to oranges. Writing an album and touring with Chickenfoot will take up around a year of his life. Whereas doing this acoustic CD of songs he's previously written probably just took him a couple weeks.

To anyone complaining about this release… Sammy could have easily not done this... but if he shelved the idea, nothing would be different, other than this CD NOT coming out. Nothing to complain about. It's not like this release is delaying anything he might do in the future...

Im glad Sam is still doing stuff. Im always glad to hear that Sam is releasing music.

But the fact that it will take longer for CF to do a new album compared to recordin a bunch of acoustic versions of songs he's already written/recorded doesnt really make sense to me. I know that is the case, but so what?

I equate it to spending 5 mins to heat up some leftovers over spending time to make a gourmet meal. One is easier. One takes a little work.

God Bless, Sam for being happy and doing what he feels like doing. Id never slag the guy for that, but Im just saying what Id rather hear.
