Stripped Kramer Focus 1000. I'm guessing by the headstock it's from about 1986. The Focus series had maple bodies and were made in Japan.

Aside from the pickups, the 80s Focus line are great guitars. That one looks nice stripped down... and the pickup has been upgraded, so I think you got a great axe!

DON'T ask on the vintage kramer site- they just give their standard (REALLY clever) answer "$51.50 and a packet of smokes"

There were only a few helpful folks there but most were just know it all smartasses- it is against the rules to ask- but if you're knowlegable about something you SHOULD help is my opinion-

    ...just sayin' is all...

Just a few years ago you could buy a nice Focus all day long for $100-200. I have a small army of them myself that I picked up during that era!

Looking at completed EBay listings, they seem to be going for a good bit more now... but just right around the sum of their parts.

Id say it's an 85 kramer focus 1000 or striker 1000. My focus 3000 has that exact same shape beak. Starting 86 they followed the the jackson shape.

Agreed, 85. Also, most Focus were alder, though some were maple and some even basswood.

I think you are right. The Striker 1000s were plywood and it would have been nearly impossible to strip the epoxy resin or polyester finishes that were on the Strikers.

It could also be a kit guitar where somebody slapped a vintage Kramer neckplate on...

That is a multi-piece body... could be a legitimate stripped Focus. Most kit bodies are two piece bodies. But then again- I have seen multi-piece bodies marketed as "perfect for solid colour" from kit guitar makers.
Dammit!!! I still smell like cotton candy!!!
