Default (I'm Living with the) Aftershock

This is my favorite song from Balance.

It's as hard as anything they've done, but then boom, you get this very simple melodic guitar solo and then some sing along background vocals.

It's difficult to say, but I think Aftershock, Humans Being - this was the direction of the band in 1995, and I think a new album a couple of years later with Sammy would have the same feel.

I agree that the band was heading in a cool direction. Love or hate the Hagar years, they certainly seemed to evolve fairly well. What could of been...............

I don't know if I've ever heard Backdoor Shuffle or Between Us Two. Are there boots out there? Did Between Us two become Hagar's "The Wish"?

Crossing Over is fantastic. I'm shocked they didn't put it on the album. (I mean besides the Japanese version)

Back Door Shuffle was the original CGTSNM. It was finished and ready for Balance. Between Us Two was supposed to be on the Twister track and then it got pushed. Was supposed to be VH's Stairway to Heaven.

I loved Hagar's The Returning of the Wish.

I freaking love the intro to "Aftershock." IMO, after the intro, the song falls a little flat. But my fave track on Balance is "Amsterdam." To me, that is a perfect song from start to finish. And that guitar solo!! Holy hell, is that solo epic.

Get this... I own a recording that is a interview with Eddie in which he is playing just a little bit of "Between Us Two" on his acoustic guitar. I will eventually released that interview on VHND.com. So you will hear it....at least a few seconds of Ed playing it, at least.

My personal fav from Balance is Don't Tell Me (What Love Can Do) , yet I also love Aftershock !

That record had a lot of cool material IMO . I remember sitting with my (then) band for the cd release party broadcast . I still have that on tape .

strangely enough this section is my only problem with the song, it sounds too cheesy to me. the rest is great

I read someone compare it to the intro of metallica - enter sandman, which I can kind of hear, but probably would never have thought that had I not read someone mention it.

it is a great song though. ed's guitar sounds like a swirling dark mass of syrupy ectoplasm. did I just say that...whatever

Sammy said on the Bert Newton show in Australia '98 that he wanted to do their "Sergent Peppers" after "Balance".
He didn't want "Best ofs...". Just wanted to progress more.

Aftershock is my favorite off of Balance. Either that or Seventh Seal.

Aftershock is just killer, and the main riff is one of my favorite VH riffs of all time. The buildup to the outro solo and the following solo are definitely the highlights of that song.
