Default Sammy Hagar LIVE 9-13-2014, Roseville, CA

Got to go to the Sammy Hagar concert last night in Roseville, Ca. It was set up in the old part of town near the civic center in a park like area. By Sammy "island bar n grill.". Sold out, 3000 people. I was right in front near sammy. Rare general admission show.

Sammy put on a HELL of a show playing for an hour and a half. First 6 songs were Montrose since he had Bill Church on bass and Denny C on drums. Rock Candy, bad MS, rock the nation, spacestation and others.

Then Mona came out on bass for the Sammy solo songs. Ill fall in love, one way, 55, and Heavy Metal. They did one VH song playing Top of the World, it got a great reaction. Ended with that new song Island.

All in all a great show. Even after seeing Sammy 20+ times over the years, it is always a fun night out.

Did Sam or Vic play lead on the Montrose tunes? How did the old man's voice sound? I've never not, had a good time at a Sam show.

Unless you have some pre-disposition to despise the guy, I don't see how you can go to a Sam show and not have a good time.

The only time I didn't have a good time was 2004, and that really wasn't his fault.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Vic played guitar on all songs (played lead on the Motrose songs, well Sammy did play guitar on Bad Motor Scooter). Sam also played guitar on several Sammy solo songs( One Way, Little White Lie, ect..).

Vic was great. He really kicks ass on the Montrose and Sammy solos songs using his couple of LPs. You knew he was going to do a VH song when he switched to the Peavy. Vic did OK on VH Top of the World, he does his own thing and that is cool I guess, but I am just used to hearing Ed do it.

    ++++

In regards to Sammy's voice, he was great. Excellent even.

Here is a video I found. Some guy that was behind me a bit. You can get a sense of the small outdoor venue.

BTW, it was fuckin hot. Temps were near 100 outside on Saturday. Good thing Sam has beverage hook ups. Lagunitas brewery was there. So all my reviews and accounts were after SEVERAL IPAs....lol....

Man, I really dig Vic. I'm glad he does the VH tunes his own way. Did he break out the white LP? Got to see it up close and personal, back in 07'. She's a beauty!

Also later on Saturday night Sammy did a Late Night "After-show" Acoustic set over at the new Sammy Hagar Island Restaurant a block away.

He did Finish What you Started, Dreams, Halfway to Memphis and Red voodoo acoustic.

    I was shortening up titles.

It was on that Sammy Hagar & Friends cd from last year.

"All we need is an ISLAND" with Nancy Wilson

I found a video of it from saturday night as well. You can also see the crowd when they pan across the park area.

Ya know...even though Sam has plugged in an played everywhere there's electricity, at his core, he's just a dude that sings and plays a little guitar. The type of dude that would drop in at the corner bar and do a cover of Louie Louie with the house band. Born to Rock. Built to Last.

Sammy Hagar, the timeless rocker. This guy delivers on every show. Musician--check. Singer--check. Songwriter--check. Performer--check. You just have to be some kind of asshole not to appreciate this guy.

He just wins me over with his pure joy of playing.

If I understand this correctly, he played a full show during the day...then later that night played an acoustic set? And he's 67, soon to be 68 years old?

I don't get to complain about being 43 anymore. He gives me hope that there's life after 45, 55, and even 65!

    Sammy, you are the man.
