Default Could the new "project" DLR spoke of be the long-awaited live album?

Sorry if this isn't thread-worthy--I think it is, and I don't start many of them. And I think it's realistic that a live album could the "the project."

My first choice would be a full new album, but if not, the best live band in the world should have a live album. In fact, throw an EP's-worth of new tunes and I would want the latter. Trying to be realistic as possible while leaving out some faves/rarities/deep cuts, if they went through their vaults...like a "now and then":

VAN HALEN Live: Look at all the People Here Tonight!

    Disc 1:

    1. New song 1
    2. New song 2
    3. New song 3
    4. New song 4
    5. New song 5
    6. Intro ‘07
    7. You Really Got Me ‘07
    8. Unchained ‘12
    9. She’s the Woman ’12
    10. Runnin’ with the Devil ‘08
    11. Tattoo ’13 (Tokyo, Japan when he sang well)
    12. Drum Solo ‘07
    13. Dance the Night Away ‘07
    14. Everybody Wants Some!! ‘08
    15. Hot for Teacher ‘12
    16. Ice Cream Man ‘07
    17. Panama ‘12
    18. Guitar Solo ‘12
    19. Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love ‘08
    20. Jump ‘13

    Disc 2:

    1. Intro ’83 (Us Festival)
    2. On Fire ‘78 (opening song when they entered the world and started ruling it)
    3. Unchained ’81 (Oakland, CA)
    4. Hot for Teacher ‘84
    5. Drum Solo ’78, ‘84
    6. Jamie’s Cryin’ ‘81
    7. Runnin’ with the Devil ’83 (Us Festival including Dave rap)
    8. Dance the Night Away ’79 (Rochester, NY)
    9. Somebody Get Me a Doctor ‘78
    10. And the Cradle Will Rock… ‘80
    11. Beautiful Girls ‘79
    12. (Oh) Pretty Woman ’82 (Largo, MD)
    13. I’ll Wait ‘84
    14. Everybody Wants Some!! ‘80
    15. Ice Cream Man ’79 (Fresno, CA)
    16. 1984/Jump ‘84
    17. Guitar Solo ’78, ‘84
    18. Panama ‘84
    19. Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love ’78 (including Dave/Eddie screaming intro)
    20. You Really Got Me/Happy Trails ’84 (Nuremburg, Germany)

    Video 1:

    1. Intro ‘07
    2. You Really Got Me ‘07
    3. Unchained ‘12
    4. She’s the Woman ’12
    5. Runnin’ with the Devil ‘08
    6. Tattoo ’13 (Tokyo, Japan)
    7. Drum Solo ‘07
    8. Dance the Night Away ‘07
    9. Everybody Wants Some!! ‘08
    10. Hot for Teacher ‘12
    11. Ice Cream Man ‘07
    12. Panama ‘12
    13. Guitar Solo ‘12
    14. Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love ‘08
    15. Jump ‘13
    16. BONUS: Tattoo (Music video)
    17. BONUS: She's the Woman (Music video)

    7. Jump ‘84
    8. Hot for Teacher ‘84
    9. Panama ‘84
    10. BONUS: Eruption/You Really Got Me (Music video)
    11. BONUS: Runnin’ with the Devil (Music video)
    12. BONUS: Jamie’s Cryin’ (Music video)
    13. BONUS: (Oh) Pretty Woman (Music video)
    14. BONUS: And the Cradle Will Rock... (Promo)
    15. BONUS: Mean Street (Promo)
    16. BONUS: Backstage ('79 "DTNA" video, some 1980 infamous road movie footage, Us Festival rehearsed backstage video)
    17. BONUS: Band interviews ('78-'84)
    18. BONUS: 1984 (Some "Rape of the Vaults" footage with sound)

Yeah-yeah, a little far-fetched, but it could be a lot more far-fetched if included everything I wanted. Save that for the box set when they retire in 20 years, ha-ha! And if not that compilation for the second CD/DVD, then maybe a full 1984 concert.

They've obviously never done anything fan-friendly before to this level, but with Wolfie and all the cool stuff they did in 2012, it think it's possible that now could be the time. Even half of this would be fantastic.

The Who already have numerous live albums.

Seriously, though, a live album would be cool, but it's possible that YouTube has made the live album slightly redundant. Mind you, ANY new activity from VH would be a welcome sign that the band still "exists," for want of a better term, because those quiet periods (1999-2003 and 2005-2007) were pretty lame and I'd hate for the band to go back there.

Since almost all of that is available on line, some enterprising fellow should compile all of it into a download for us fans. If they aren't going to release stuff like that for us to buy, we might as well start putting packages together for free download, right?

The "Window of Calm" is now at about 8 months and counting down...

VH needs to release something, OR make an announcement about an upcoming release within about 8 months, or the natives are going to become MAJORLY RESTLESS.

I only say that because there have been a few too many clues circulated into the Internet Ether over the last while and there is a form of EXPECTATION in the air...

I went back to read exactly what's been said about the upcoming "project" and was struck by how quickly things get twisted around and misreported.

All this is from the same article:

David Lee Roth Confirms Van Halen Are Working on New Album

During his recent chat with Jim Florentine of That Metal Show, David Lee Roth confirmed that Van Halen are indeed working on their next studio album.

That's the good news. The bad news, if any, is that the album is more than a year away from being completed and released. Roth says the process will take about 18 months.

"I was up at Edward's house, maybe three days ago — just before I came here to the city — and we're starting to put music together," Roth told Florentine on Ozzy's Boneyard. "Not to give away exactly what the package will be, it's gonna be about 18 months, I think."

Got to love journalism. Dave didn't say "album" or "studio album".

He didn't say "box of frankenstrat striped dildo's" either.

He's a professional musician, and saying "putting music together" and "package in about 18 months" would lead one to believe that it has something to do with music. Either a live DVD, an album, or a studio album. Unless they are putting music together for a soundtrack or video game, there aren't too many other options.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

If you're a journalist then "would lead one to believe" is not the same as "confirm". The article specifically says "studio album" and even you said "Either a live DVD, an album, or a studio album. Unless they are putting music together for a soundtrack or video game".

Yes, something is being worked on, but a new studio album has not been confirmed by anything I've seen.
