    Default Latex Paint

Hey, my project ended up being put on hold for a while and Im just getting back to it now, still need to paint it. Because of the colour I want, the only way I found to paint it myself is to go to my local paint store where they can fill a spray can for you with their paint. The thing is, they have latex paint and Im not sure that will work for a guitar. Has anyone here ever used latex for guitar?

The store is able to fill the cans with any paint however there arent cars made in that colour, so Im not sure how else to get that colour paint to put in the can?? Any suggestions would be appreciated

Don't use latex paint on guitars !!!
I would suggest picking up a couple of sexy hot girls and get some finger paints
and a bottle of Crown and having some real fun. Get them naked, do some heavy drinking and chase them around with the finger paints---forget the latex idea !!!

.....oh wait a second, this post was about painting guitars. My bad !!!

I can honestly say that I've never heard of anyone using latex paint on a guitar !

    Yeah...No!
Definately a big no to latex paint. It's just that...Latex, and will basically dry to a film of rubber, plus most is water base. You don't want to introduce either to a guitar body.
If you're painting with consumer grade paints, stick with:
Nitro Lacquer (Some manufacturers call it Lacquer enamel now for EPA regs.)
    Acrylic Lacquer, such as Duplicolor
Krylon Acrylic Enamel I put this in it's own category because Sherwin Williams changed the formula from acrylic lacquer to a special enamel several years ago again due to EPA regs as it was classed as a "craft paint", so don't mix old Krylon with new. It'll orange peel to hell! You can use the Krylon Industrial with old consumer forluma...It's still acrylic lacquer, but there's far less color range...That's why I prefer Duplicolor.
Varathane/ atmospheric cure Poly: I've not used Varathane on guitars which is similar to a plastic when it cures, but I've heard of some folks trying it with success. Atmospheric cure poly (Poly without a B part catalyst) dries very hard, and I've used a product called Diamond Coat which I've used as a clear over a red NGR stain I applied. It turned out amazing, and was very durable with only a couple coats. Not sure what you can get as far as colors or tints, but maybe someone else has played around with it.
