    Default Fernandez sustainer

Does anyone know what model Fernandez sustainer Ed prefers?
I'm thinking it's the double coil in the neck position. Any info or pics would be nice.

    Thank you and rock on

i belive he used the single coil one in the peavey...

my advice, owning a peavey in which i installed a sustainer, is to go with sustainiac instead of fernandes...it is the same thing, but in a smaller package, so if you were to install it in a wolf special, with a single volume pot, you don't need to cut out any wood, beacause if installed with pretty precise measurements, it fits nice and tight in the control cavity, including the battery.

I've only ever seen Ed use the single coil version in both the EBMMs and the Peaveys. I've done some research on the kits and agree with peaveywolfgang, go for the sustainiac.

The sustainer "period" in my opinion was one of the wost things musically EVH got into. He used it as a crutch ala Hammet and his wah

I loved that Cherry Burst Wolf on the '04 tour. I think I saw it still hanging by the console in 5150 in one of the recent videos.

The sustainer used in moderation is neat, see: Me Wise Magic, Humans Being, Honey Baby Sweetie Doll. The abuse it got on the '04 is cringe worthy though.

I totally agree with you during Ed's dark period. Seriously, the stuff with the Sustainer was an atrocity, but earlier on, and used sparingly, he used it well on MWM. He actually even supposedly used it for "color" when overdubbing when Kramer were making a Sustainer guitar, and he was on the tail end of his association with them.

Don't know what he would have used it on back then...if he even used it at all....I could never make it out, so maybe it only made it as far as the demo stage at that point. Would have been very late 80's at any rate. He does use it on the new album too in spots. HSBD to name one, and Blood and Fire too.
As long as he uses it mildly, or for accenting a passage, I have no problem with it, but God..those 04' solos with nothing but sustainer, and slop......Just horrible.
