    Default Aerosmith and Van Halen

Just finished the Joe Perry memoir and while there wasn't much in it about VH, what was there was all positive. Joe is extremely complimentary to Eddie as a guitarist. I always thought there was some sort of rivalry between the two, but if anything, Aerosmith feared/were threatened by Van Halen because they were the young guns coming up in the late-70s while Aerosmith had just begun their tailspin.

They seemed all smiles at the Stone Music Festival, and it would be great to see them do a co-headlining tour.

The only other VH-related part was about Ted Templeman and how he was seen as the "savior" of the band when he came on to produce Done With Mirrors. Perry says that obviously wasn't the case and Ted's actual involvement was surprisingly minimal.

the only bitterness was eddie stole perry's throne.

although at the time time perry was very much into the drugs....

and as far as a headlining tour together....Im not feelin that one.

what they going to do, flip a coin to see who closes each night?? (like sam/dave...hhaahah)

Well, it worked with Kiss, and its somehow working so far with NIN and Soundgarden - and there are egos in all those bands.

What throne did Perry ever have?
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

I don't want to see a co-headlining tour with another band and VH.
Van Halen doesn't need it and I wouldn't want to see a shortened set.

VH doesn't seem to need a co-headliner to sell tickets so why bother?

Aerosmith still brings it live. They are so polished and professional. I would imagine any issues between the bands stemmed from Roth's ego.

Christ - give it a rest! If the past few years of bitter public infighting - more so or at least on the same level as anything that ever went on between Dave and VH - have shown, it's that Steven Tyler has one of the biggest egos in rock music.

As for saying "Aerosmith still brings it live" - because VH doesn't? And "polished and professional." That's almost laughable. Has Eddie knocked Dave off the stage with a hip-check in recent years? Has Dave fallen off the stage due to being out of his mind on drugs, causing an entire (and very lucrative) summer tour to be cancelled? Has VH made a new record, their first in many, many years that required a half-dozen guests and outside collaborators in an attempt to manufacture a hit - and have it pretty much tank?

    NO.

But all the above happened with Aerosmith.

Preferring one VH singer to another is one thing, but come on...wipe the self-created bile off your chin.
