I agree Love to the Bulls is very unlikely, but if you have those four stars the Bulls could afford what they lose and still win. If the Cavs lose Wiggins and Waiters they're screwed. No SG'S, no backup bigs...bad move. Too many holes to fill as it is.

Well I think they will lose Wiggins or Waiters. Not both. Waiters is definitely their choice to be dealt because he hogs the ball like Irving/LBJ. Can't have three guys like that. However I am thinking Wiggins is the guy they have to give up. Kind of strange he has been rumored to sign for a week but hasn't. Once he has, he can't be dealt for 30 days. Not a deal breaker but I am sure teams want to be set with their rosters now instead of late August.

Like I said, if Love goes to Chicago, they won't have anybody to guard the wings. Noah will be guarding SF's if they choose to play all three bigs. He will foul out in the 3rd quarter. Plus other fouls will occur when their backcourt is letting PG's and SG's drive right past them.

Doesn't make sense if what Sheridan says is the package.

Wiggins was signed today, so he can be traded in 30 days, if we believe these rumors about Love to the Cavs being a pretty sure bet.

I think you're right on both counts. I don't see them giving up Waiters.
Love, would be nice to have but ,it's not the best fit, and I really would like to see what a healthy Rose, Gasol, and the new additions can do.

Apparently, Love was discussed with Gilbert during their meeting. Part of the reason he came aboard. I thought LJ would've seen the benefit of playing with a PG he's a never had, as well as playing with some young guns he never had in Miami. This, mentality, or notion that we can only win with a "big three" has spread like a disease thru the league. Too bad.
I'm hoping we at least get to see the Wiggins/LJ combo for a few games before the deal is dun.

What is the Cleveland defense going to look like though?

Anyway, looks like all that flip flopping we were hearing about with 'Melo was real, and so was the quote that he "believes" in Phil. 'Melo did consider LA, but that was very short-lived.

I find it interesting that after having Shaq, then grooming Bynum, having Bynum, then trading Bynum for Howard, then trying to keep Howard...that the Lakers don't have a true 5 on their roster.

    Well, there you go:

    Chris Broussard ‏@Chris_Broussard 3m
Sources: The Los Angeles Lakers have offered Byron Scott their head coaching job. The two sides are now in negotiations.
WTF were they waiting for? Makes me wonder if that rumor was true--that the Cavs were still paying Byron after firing him--and that waiting meant more money from the Cavs, which the Lakers enjoyed considering Gilbert's role in the CP3 deal.

I think their D would be much better without Love. Waiters, Wiggins, LJ, Varejao, Bennett and Thompson aren't bad, probably a top ten D. Losing two or three of those guys hurts the D, I believe.

Do you know how that works? Are the Cavs paying Scott this year, and into the future?

Wouldn't the Cavs and Lakers still be paying Mike Brown?

Lakers owed Mike Brown $7 million when they let him go, but it was reported that his (re)hiring by the Cavs would offset about half of that (http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles/...cts-the-lakers). So obviously there is some contractual thing where, if they don't get another job, they're owed that amount. But if they get hired elsewhere, then some of what is owed is reduced, probably based upon what the new salary is.

Byron Scott was in fact being paid not to coach this year (http://www.crainscleveland.com/artic...ions-about-the), though he was employed by the Lakers team this season--he was a studio analyst on the Time Warner Lakers channel. I'm guessing that salary is in the high five or low six figure range, which probably displaced little of what the Cavs owed him.

In other words, if the Lakers wanted him, there was no rush. He was getting paid--and he was getting paid by one of the guys that LA thinks screwed them over. So why rush? Makes sense to me.

I think Scott is a strange hire in that this roster is more D'Antoni-like than last year. HOWEVER, Lakers fans always love their own, and Scott will be welcome with much more open arms than D'Antoni, especially now that there has been a hire without dangling Phil in front of the fans. I bet even Doc would make this hire.

IF he works out, great. If not, he placates the fans and season ticketholders for a bit.
