Default VH really dropped the ball on the 1984 anniversary

I'm seeing more of these 30th anniversary album releases (Bob Marley Legend, Cyndi Lauper, Purple Rain) and it just reminds me how are favorite band just really dropped the ball by not doing something special with the 1984 album's 30th anniversary. I'll never understand their train of thought. Why are they so against things like this?

I guess to make this a little more interesting of a topic. What would you've liked to have seen on an official 30th Anniversary edition of 1984? (Sorry if this has been covered before, I'm sure it probably has.)

I would've liked to see a package with all the 1984 tracks, some studio outtakes or songs that didn't make it, and maybe a "making of" interview or some in-studio footage. Of course these are just wishes and probably won't happen, but that would be the ultimate 30th anniversary package for me.

Yes they did. Completely dropped the ball on the 30th anniversary of one of the biggest albums of the '80s. You could fill up an entire thread on the things they could have done. Reunite with Michael, special release of 1984 with extra tracks, live '84 video release, perform the album in it's entirety on tour, etc.

I'd rather a 35th anniversary of VHII with the 4 deep cut tracks played on the ADKOT tour. (Outta Love Again, Women In Love, Bottoms Up & Light Up The Sky at soundcheck)

1984 is by far my favorite VH album , although I enjoy the entire catalog . I agree that they dropped the ball so to speak , and wish this gem of an album got the full anniversary treatment !!!

There's no doubt that VH themselves are aware of the date and it's implication ... Let's hope that a future tribute is already in the works

What? Van Halen dropped the ball and disappointed their fans, again?

I wonder how much of their lack of action stems from not wanting to have to cross paths with, (or increase the wealth of), Michael Anthony.

Then again, didn't he forfeit his royalties from 1984?

On the other hand, any chance that the VH "project" DLR said he was working on was at all 1984 related?

I still want to think Dave's special VH project (is) 1984 related ... although it's getting a little late in the year...but maybe they are going for a holiday release?? To me special VH project would not mean new album. Plus he threw in a couple quick video pieces from 1984 era in that episode. Seems like a hint.

Maybe just me dreaming ... knowing how they ignore their past, my head says they'll never release any official product from those years. but 1984 was a huge milestone for them... so ya never know i guess.

Another one I saw coming out is a Deluxe Edition of Bon Jovi New Jersey. I wonder if that company Deluxe Edition who do really good work on their releases have gone to Van Halen and asked to work on something only to obviously be told not interested. It seems like most big bands have had at least one album get the Deluxe Edition treatment. But never Van Halen....

Trust me I'm with you. Just was using it as an example. Essentially even they get the Deluxe Edition treatment but VH who I'm sure have been approached by that company still refuse.
