I went to this show over the weekend, and most of what your buddies said is true. This event was way over sold. The set list was pretty much same old Circle stuff except the Vince Neil cameo and the Chickenfoot encore, the latter is why attended. Vince is pretty much done, and owes Mikey for filling in the words and notes that he left out. I know Sammy wants the festival thing to take off, but they need some major work before I'd head to anything like that again, or maybe I'm just too old to deal with it anymore.
Things like toilets, water and food are always a good idea, having enough for paying customers is even better. The only thing we were able to buy was 15.00 beers. There was no merchandise left by the time we got there, and that was at 3:00. Garbage cans and recycling cans were non existent and the bathroom situation isn't even worth trying to describe.
For the most part it was fun, and the friends I took had a great time, my wife was pretty irritated most of the day. It just kind of started getting funny how unorganized it seemed, so we just rode it out.
Music wise, it was what it was. I'm 52 so I remember when REO was a big thing. I never cared either way about them, If they were on the radio or at someones house, I listened. I never bought an album, but I'm always surprised at how many songs buried into my brain when I was younger. I enjoyed their set, even the Eddie Money appearance, he is worse than Vince Neil. Sammy's set was just what it always has been with the Circle. Bitching about it will never get me anywhere, but I still go if I get a chance. He won't be around forever, or he may out live me, not sure which one? I did enjoy Satriani and the Chickenfoot part of the show. I wish they would had played a couple of more songs, but I got what I got.
Since he is trying this again next year, I hope he reads some reviews and really thinks this through next time, it cant be much worse though.

Inaguaral events rarely hit it out of the park the first time. You learn from mistakes.
Food/merch all that shit, is easily fixable. The hard part is getting good bands to play.
I know Sam loves to invite his buddies or people he's interviewed on his show but c'mon. REO, Vince Neil, and Eddie Money? You can do a LITTLE better than that, Sam.

I too was only going for the Chickenfoot, was rolling dice on a last minute surprise appearance by Chad, but by the time last week rolled around, I said fuck it, not worth the risk and a 6 hour drive round trip. Unloaded my pit passes on CraigsList. Also part of my reasoning was the realization that the Circle wasn't gonna drop the new LP beforehand, and probably minimal play of any new stuff (the new track is, IMO, less than overwhelming). I hope the whole concept album isn't all acoustic folk. That just isn't gonna land in this day and age from an old school rocker like Sam.
Wish CF wouldn't let their go-to 'single' tracks be Oh Yeah and Bigfoot too. I hate those tracks. They have so many better tunes.
The Circle will no doubt tour next year behind the new album, but honestly I'd rather support a CF album and tour. Still, like you said, Sammy only has a certain amount of time left before retirement, forced or voluntary lol. I'd like to see all the guys from VH one last time, in whatever format they wanna do their last tours. I don't really care at this point. Sam and Mike in CF or the Circle, Dave, Ed, and Al in VH4, doesn't matter to me, just play a few more times before it all comes to an end. Rockers are dropping left and right these days. No time to waste anymore.

No kidding. I saw one of Tom Petty's last shows. I had a bad feeling... Went slightly gangbusters on tickets this year as a result. (Gangbusters for me anyway). ZZ Top, John Fogerty (awesome), Debby Bonham, Ann Wilson, Jeff Beck, Paul Rodgers, Dick Dale. His show was really good, but he's not doing well. Anyhow...
I was wondering why there were no updates from the High Tide show. IIRC Sam did that in the past. I guess they expected it to be a cluster, so the "during the show" PR wasn't done.

I chatted a little with Aaron about it. They didn't expect it to be as clusterfucked as it got. Especially the ADA access, and waste disposal. And shortage on brew. LOL, you can't underestimate the redhead base when it comes to beer.

Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.
Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"
David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

It is always a good idea when planning an event to plan to have too much of the following:
Booze
Water
Shitters
Trash cans
No excuse, first time event or not, for not having those in sufficient supply. They know how many fucking tickets they sold, it shouldn't have been a surprise..."holy shit, we sold 10,000 tickets, and motherfucker, where did all these people come from?"Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Got 'em! Going with the new GF. Wow that was fast. And weird. I didn't get a chance to look forward to it! Could've sworn I checked RR.com for upcoming show this summer. Guess I did right before he announced that.
Hope I hear a new tune!Dave

Great show as always but no new song and the setlist was the same as always with the addition of "Eagles Fly" VH-1995-style where it was acoustic and the band came in at the last chorus. Aaron joined on stage to sing as well and it was the first time my seeing him live so that was a treat.
Wow they sounded great, especially The Red Rocker. He looked the best he has in over a decade. Thin, happy (as always), and energetic as can be. Wore this neon peach shirt--I don't think I've ever seen neon peach before.
That, and of all the times I saw Mikey live and on video--including him more buzzed than usual on Cabo Wabo bootlegs even back from the Los Tres Gusanos in the '90s era--I have never heard him more drunk than that! He was actually slurring!
Great crowd, too.
It was a joyous night.Last edited by DFVH5150; 10.18.18 at 09:17 AM.

There's this thing in too many of us where we feel the need to pick apart anyone from the other team. This is beautifully seen in the Trump presidency. People just nitpick the hell out of him...
The Democratic Party .... fresh...
