Default VH has to get a new singer!

I hope VH gets a new singer - it is obvious Dave cant do it anymore.
I love the original Dave what he brought to VH was entirely creative, original and made VH rock.
But he just cant do it anymore.

On the other hand, Robert Plant proves at every performance that he is maybe not the "Rock God" that he used to be- but is still so excellent, aged and like a fine wine- possibly as good as back in the day!

    Robert Plant 2014

I just don't get that feeling with DLR - he is lacking now. He is dragging Van Halen down.

It was never about Dave's singing ability. If that were the case, we would have never heard about Dave Roth. It's his persona. And that particular persona is hard to maintain when you are 60 years old.
Now, if it were David Lee Roth + Queen, you'd have a valid point.
But since were rehashing dumb shit, I'll add this: Mike's a class act.

So tomorrow is July 1st 2014 ... I'm not sure what the date was for VH's last show , but between then and now - what happened to make you want to start this thread ?

Roth's acoustic Ice Cream Man rendition or his Happy clip ? I don't get it

I thought Dave did fine considering all the factors that go into putting on a gig in a person's 60's .

I just don't think Dave can do it anymore like Plant can. This was proven on VH's last tour. Plant can do it all still, maybe a slightly different way, the arrangements are so cool, and he can sing the melodies just about note for note. Dave can't even or wont sing his own melodies anymore. Van Halen is too good for this. I have never said this about VH before but they need to up their game or get out- especially vocally.

I understand that a lot of folks get antsy between albums and tours , but I'll play along ...

Are you wanting Sammy back in the band ? Do you have any other "candidates" in mind ?

Unless it's a reunion tour with both singers or Dave just quits and Sammy comes back, I don't want any more singers in VH. I vote for the first option. Considering their age, a setlist of about 25 songs would do it. Each singer would get an equal number with one song featuring both singers. Ed could play an abbreviated solo.

David Lee Roth is the singer for Van Halen. That's all there is to it.

You should just look forward to Wolfgang's future band.

I think Dave has a great voice -- I love his tenor. But Dave also brings a crazy good show and awesome lyrics. He is the man.

I saw Robert Plant last summer second row at a small venue. It was good, but everything was tuned down, the versions of Zep songs were a bit sketchy, and he stood there kind of like a...plant.

    Dave or the grave.

If they ever did a 2 singer tour Dave and Sam would bicker over who sings the last song.
Perhaps Mike sings Without You, or he and Ed do a duet of How Many Say I.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

I might be in the minority , yet I'd love to see a Dave and Sam tour with Van Halen . It really would be the best of both worlds jaunt . It would be interesting to see how Mike and Wolf would play into the grand scheme . Not holding my breath for it though ... And I'd shudder at the thought of the VIP ticket prices

I won't argue with your logic here , Kev . Dave is the MAN !!!
He's the face most associated with our favorite band , and I also love his voice and attitude ... You know I also love Sam's VH stuff . That's just the way I'm wired . Haha . The music speaks to me - ALL of it .

As far as Wolfie's next band ? I have mixed thoughts about that one .

Dave all the way, even today with his diminished vocal abilities in a live setting. He's endlessly fascinating and entertaining and sometimes frustrating. His lyrical approach has never been better. I think we will be more than pleasantly surprised when the new record is released. I would bet that once summer is over and Dave is back from Japan, we'll start hearing more about their plans for 2015, which will be a very productive and busy year for them.

A Sam and Dave reunion tour would be a sham, and it would destroy whatever respect I have left for this band.

^^^ I agree with most of the first paragraph . Disagree with the first half of the last sentence . Just sayin'
