Default Anyone seen or have this VH book from 2012??

    http://www.amazon.com/Could-This-Be-...ords=van+halen

I came across this book on amazon. Never heard about it til now, and I get all the VH and related books.

Its from 2012 but only 48 pages.

Anyone got it and is it any good??

I know theres a book in the process about the old club/Passadena days which will be cool too.

"The Inside" had a terrific issue about the club days aswell.
What is understood need not be discussed

"I am in a blissful state. Dont bug me!!!" - Richard Dreyfuss "The Goodbye girl" 1977

    Great title.

But you can read some excerpts on that Amazon page, and it's a hot mess. Not written by a literate person.

    One of the reviews:

"Most disappointing is that the author mentions having done lots of research, but the only sources quoted are Sammy Hagar's book, and Wikipedia!"

classic! haha read some of the excerpts on amazon, seems very vague!

In the authors defence... it seems the author is disabled, and that the book is helping a worthy veteran's charity which she is part of. Apparently she did have a relationship with Red Ball Jet and Mammoth... and put this "book" together quickly by just adding text so she could publish the photographs.

Seems hiring an editor was not an option.

I'm not connected... just gleening this info from that Amazon page.

Cheers to her for sharing her pictures and throwing a few explanitory sentences together for VH fans.

Agreed with what has been said...comes across more like a school project with access to word and photoshop. Not really worth anything since you can now find the pictures online.

I have it. If I remember correctly, there are some interesting first-hand anecdotes. And there are several decent photos that I don't know that had been released before. I bought the Kindle version on the cheap and thought it was worth what I paid, which price I don't remember.

I got it....takes about 10 minutes to read it from what I remember. Not as many photos as I was hoping for.

As was said, the money went to a charity. She did apparently know the band and did add a few thoughts which are worth hearing. I was most interested in her thoughts on a young Eddie.

I haven't read this one yet . Good on her for trying !
Not everyone has the gumption to do a project like that , and have it be commercially available . Not that I want to run out and buy it ...

Was unaware of all that, I feel a bit bad about my comment now, I guess from the page I made the assumption it was a real published/edited book. Would definitely be interesting to hear some first hand anecdotes about the band in the early early days.

I have it. There were some interesting tidbits about VH in their young days since she knew them personally, so it was about the different personalities if I recall correctly. Nothing memorable but interesting nonetheless.

I think the cover is fuckin' cool. Alex in a flannel with a couple of cans of Schlitz by his throne and Ed with a Les Paul. And a Mark Stone sighting!
The only genre I really know is Van Halen.

Hello fellas, this is my first post here ... but I have been lurking for years.

The author - it says Elizabeth Wiley on the cover of the book - is the one and only "Liz Wiley" thanked on the back of VHI. She was there, she seen it and was enough of a friend of the band to be one of the few thanked on the first album.

I liked the book - it is, however, her personal reminiscence of the early days when she was friends with the band. As long as you view it in those terms, then you will not be too disappointed if you buy it.

It has some of the rarest pics of the band ever seen, including several of Mark Stone with the band. For me, those are gold - because we have not seen enough photos from the early days.
