    Default 80's Bands

A total vague topic since there were so many.

Last weekend, I took my wife (along with another couple) to see the Eddie Money (opener), Loverboy (middle) and headliner Rick Springfield show at Thunder Valley Casino Ampatheater. It was a late birthday present for her as Rick is one of her faves.
I have to admit though that it was a very good show, Eddie was good yet age and lifestyle have taken it toll on him, Loverboy was better than expected and Rick was very good as well. Only problem was that due to noise curfew, Rick had to cut his set short at 10 and only played for an hour.

Who from the past have you seen lately and did they impress you after all these years?
I think we will be seeing Loverboy again next month when they come back for a county fair.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.

Unless I am just totaling skipping on someone I saw...Rush (x2) and VH are the last acts I have seen in the past two years.

Seen some local bands, and a couple of tribute acts (hard to beat seeing a good tribute band for $10), but no one else.

There was an 80's metal festival in my own backyard, and I didn't go. Unless I really like someone, to me, concerts are too much cost and pain in the ass to make it worth my time. Festivals are even less attractive to me, I just don't want to be there all day and into the night, I got shit to do.

VH, Rush, Iron Maiden, etc. my favorites, yeah, schedule permitting, I go and see them. Loverboy? No way.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

    Preferred pronouns: he/him/his

Hurricane Halen - Let's all gingery touch our sword tips!!!

This. Even the shows I DO go to (2 or 3 a year TOPS) I get annoyed very quickly. It sucks getting old lol

Thankfully a lot of bands put out live blurays (Hell, even some of the bootlegs these days are practically hidef) watch at my convenience, big screen hidef, free booze, no line for the shitter. Parking's free

yeah it's not the same, but I'll take it

Yeah, but you're 24 years old. You should be going to all those shows! And good for you, by the way.

I used to go see so many concerts, but life gets in the way nowadays. Like DD said, if it's VH or a few other favorites (Jeff Beck, Maiden) OR if it's a free show (I got my hookups!), I'll make the effort. Otherwise, it's a very slim chance.

This year looks promising with Motley, Sammy, Jeff Beck, Queen, but I think I can manage them.

Last show I went to was VH in 2007.

The older I get, the more I dislike large crowds. I always seem to be seated behind the drunk dude or gal who wants to "WHOOOOOOOOO" every two seconds.

As an active concert goer since 1974 I finally started to slow down a few years ago. There's still a few bands/ artists I will go see besides the brothers. Not too many but I've seen so many and have some incredible memories.
