Its weird with me because I forget important stuff all the time with work, personal life, etc but with music the majority of it stays there. If I learned something at 20, I typically can play it 28 years later. Cover or original. Same with a song maybe 6 months ago we played out once. My wife gets mad at me because I forget everything outside of music.

I'm in decent shape right now because I've had a gig every weekend for the past 6 weeks, about to be 7. If I could play for even 30 minutes a day I'd be in way better shape. As it is right now unless I'm getting ready for a gig I'm lucky if I play at all during the work week, but my saving grace is that I teach lessons every Saturday morning. That means I've at least got a guitar in my hands for 3-4 hours. I may not be playing anything technically challenging, but I'm at least working with a metronome, running scales, and keeping the foundations in order.

Oh, and I'm with you CalFB - sometimes a week off is exactly what you need to pull yourself out of a rut.

I always make sure to do a 15 min warmup routine at least every other day - that's why my guitar playing is better than my abs.

    Right on!
Mr. Crowley is probably my favorite Ozzy song. Always loved Randy's guitar parts on that track, and the ad libs/variations that Jake later played.

Me too...Randy varied that solo up a lot as well. That was one of the things I liked most about him is that he never stuck strictly to the solos as they were on the album. He followed the same basic structure but varied things up within that framework. To me, that was a big testament to his creativity. Jake too. He could keep the same basic themes, but make them his own without it feeling like he was straying too far away from Randy's original compositions. I always felt like Zakk stuck pretty much to the album versions...which I can understand from a standpoint of respect.
Randy does so many cool embellishments on his original ideas live that it's a LOT of fun for me to dissect his playing on the bootlegs just to see how he approaches switching things up.

People love to criticize me for many ridiculous reasons...one of which is that I TAB out a lot of things. As if TAB is difficult or college level theory. But the truth is, I often write out TABs so that I have an easier time if I forget something and want to go back and re-learn it without having to fully figure it all out again...

Hope Fudd isn't at any rail stations in Atlanta today, just came across the scrawl, four dead.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

Emperor Brett - "I can't believe you guys are analyzing song-by-song Van Halen III? What next, analyzing the script of Stroker Ace looking for some shred of Citizen Kane?"

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Another thing that is really cool about taking stuff apart from the boots is hearing how tightly intertwined Don's right hand is with Randy's solos. He does stuff that compliments Randy's leads so well that in my opinion it makes Randy sound even better. I had to be careful with the "After Hours" tab for Crowley because it was easy to get Don's lines confused with Randy's in places. I may post the tab for that and add Don's parts in tandem so you can see what I mean. If you listen to the Diary boots with Lindsey Bridgewater, there is a such a difference between him and Don that it leaves a glaring hole. Bridgewater just doubles Randy's rhythm parts in a lot of places and the overall result is incredibly lacking. It's nowhere near as full sounding as the Blizzard shows with Don.

Not to be "that guy" who bashes Gibson, but I was scanning Sweetwater just to see what SGs they had, and I came across this standard. It's like they aren't even trying to contour the cutaways anymore, yikes. Sorry for the screenshot image:
