    Question for the builders on here;

    What's the best method for installing Floyd Rose studs and bushungs into a finished body? I've heard everything from using a G clamp to force them in, to using a drill press for the same effect, to tapping them with a hammer - slowly and straightly etc.

    Thoughts? Experiences? Or should I leave it for my tech?
    Thanks in advance!

    I have only built one guitar, but with that one I just gently tapped the bushings in with a hammer, then screwed the studs in. I don't recall it being very much trouble, although it was years ago so I don't remember it very well.

    I appreciate it! Just weighing my options..

    I have about six studs and bushings, so that's not a problem, just worried about doing any damage to the guitar body. In hindsight, I should've mailed the inserts to Warmoth and had them do the instal - a service they only charge ten bucks for! My bad...

    Put several layers of tape or maybe even tape an old pick guard down around the bushing holes to protect the top.

    Oh yeah, if I do it myself I'll certainly put down foam/rubber/etc. to protect the finish.
    Also something similat to sheild the bushings themselves while installing, but thanks for the tip!

    Tomorrow I'm getting a cable making kit and two sliding rack shelves from sweetwater. Got $30 off my order by calling my engineer to see if they could do anything for me, ALWAYS TRY!

    Looks like I'm FINALLY assembling this rack. I've had two rack units sitting ontop of my 100S because I didn't have enough long cables to run them to a rack, lol! Going to be stripping my pedalboard apart tomorrow, wish me luck!

    I did the rack thing years and years ago. What's going in yours?

    I'm about to start a couple more builds and have a quick question.... I've got 2 raw poplar bodies that I need to raise the grain on them and sand before I seal them and for the life of me I can't remember what to use to do it... Its just a damp rag with either water or Denatured Alcohol (methylated spirits), or something on it. If anybody knows, can you please let me know... I've done this 3 or 4 times in the past few years but I'm buggered if I can remember what I did..

    Thanks guys...

    Default Random guitar shit that doesn't deserve a thread...n shit

    I did a quick search. Seems you just want to use something with the same base as your final finish.

    And let it dry completely before sanding.

    I don't have any photos or videos, but I picked up a little Boss Katana-Mini a few weeks back and I just want to say: it is the best $99 I've ever spent. It sounds so good (especially for what it is) and is a great complement to my 5150 III. I originally was planning on getting a Yamaha THR10 (I might still do that some day) but this little thing is sick.

    It's also nice for when I don't want to wake up my whole apartment complex.
