Since it was a different scale neck the best I could get this thing to sound like was a bad acid trip so it sat.......for 18 years! I finally recently said fuck it and that no matter how bad I suck I am going to give this instrument my all and took it to get "set up" as they called it.

Long story short, here is the services they provided for $150:
    - they had to take out the old Bridge unit, remount the new one without whammy bar.
    - put in a nut made of bone (my request) (sexual pun in there somewhere)
    - get rid of the tone knob (Why have that in the first place?)
    - get rid of single to humbucker switch
    - new strings.
    Did I just get hosed?
This is a an Arbor star-shaped guitar that is the exact shape of the one Ed used on the WACF tour.
Do you like how it plays ? I kinda take it that you don't really play guitar. Anyhow, replacing a bridge is never cheap. Are the switches still in place and the circuit just clipped?
To me, $150 seems fair. Most techs in my area charge about $30 per 1/2 hour. So, with a replacement bridge and various repair and change work. I'd say its fair but a little on the high end. If you are happy with it then IMO the sticker shock will fade away.

It plays well if that's what you call what I'm doin to it. To be honest it is a sentimental guitar and just knowing it works now is pretty sweet, I was always bothered that the first place I took it to (TR guitars in Orange County) told me "fuck it, it's not worth it to fix". So now I am going to learn to play from some punk kid that is going to make me feel like a tool and when I am good enough, I will customize it with nice paint and gear. So yes, I like it and pics will be coming soon.

Yeah it sounds like when you put the new neck on that the dimensions were different than the previous one, which means you have to move the bridge to get the correct intonation. That's not an easy thing to do, especially if you have a Floyd on there (although it sounds like a regular Fender-style tremolo from your description). They have to get the measurement perfect, otherwise it it will always be a little off.

Based on all the work, that sounds pretty reasonable--especially if it was done right.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

I want to remove the gloss off one of my necks, but I don't want completely bare either. (my unnaturally sweaty hands and bare maple is a bad combo) So I want to oil the neck. I found a can in my garage that we used for something else awhile back called "baked linseed oil." I've heard of people using this on necks before, but don't know what to do. If linseed oil isn't the best, then I can get some Minwax tung oil at a little shop near me. Anyways, can somebody please explain to me the process of oiling a neck? Any help is appreciated!

Stumbled upon this striped Wolfgang on Guitar Center's used site. Looks pretty neat! If it had a Floyd I'd be all over it. I wonder if it was striped by a fan or if its one of the Wolfgang prototypes that has slipped out of the Scottsdale office? Anyone near Tempe, AZ want to go have a look at this?

That looks kind of neat , yet I'd like the stripes to be more pronounced ...

Default Just a little rant ...

I hurt myself at work yesterday . I've been on the same job for three years , and have never had a problem ... Yesterday I literally dropped to my knees in pain and couldn't stand/walk for almost an hour . Sent from work for a 4hr hospital visit - shots/x rays/decompression and pain killers .

"Acute muscle trauma and a possible pinched nerve" in my lower back , according to the medical staff . My dad used so get a sore back from playing hockey . He said it's one of the worst ailments one can endure - physically speaking . I'm suddenly inclined to agree ... Ouch

** I mentioned this because I just started holidays today . Was supposed to jam with some buddies this weekend . Right now , I'm having a hard time even getting up and walking**

Just curious if anyone has the ability to make a backing track of On Fire with no guitar and no vocals?

Try guitarbackingtrack.com. They might have a backing track with vocals.
