Default Eddy's ever comment on Sammy's book...?

I have tried looking but can't seem to find anything on this: has Ed every commented publicly about Sammy's book and all the supposed things that went on with Ed, the band, etc.?

Sammy's got so much to say I was wondering if Ed just took the high road and said nothing.

He doesn't acknowledge Sammy and most certainly would never have any response to his book. The thing is that you know Sam was telling the truth because..........well, he was never sued for libel. So, you have to assume that given the absence of a suit, that what Sam said was true. So Ed's just never ever going to acknowledge it. He'd either have to deny it -- he can't -- or explain himself -- he won't.

I don't know though -- maybe some day he'll sit down and open up, but I don't see that happening. Even then, most everything would have to be vetted because he sees things through his own lens.

    That's my take.

My take is that the stuff Sammy aired was stuff we had no business knowing. Why would Ed comment andthrow gasoline on something he wishes would have stayed private? Yeah we all know there was a train-wreck era to VH but it's not our right as fans to know what happened behind closed doors.

Unless someone who was behind those doors decided to tell us.

Heck, we knew in general what was going on already, Sam just filled in some specific details that he witnessed.

We heard about the big fight after the last show, about how messed up Ed was during other shows and rumors of him being blitzed in hotel bars and such. We knew this stuff. Again, Sam just provided some specific details.

And honestly, who the hell says we "didn't have a right to know"? These dudes certainly didn't have a problem charging us for the shows, knowing it was better than a 50/50 chance Ed was going to show up and not give us what we paid for.....so I think it's perfectly okay if someone decided to tell us exactly "why" that was.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em. -

It's clear Ed has made a concerted effort to stay out of it. I wouldn't characterize it as taking the high road so much as not wanting to address really unflattering (and true) facts about his addictions. All of the interview questions are likely pre-approved because no one ever asks him about it. Venues that won't play to that don't get interviews from Ed.

Some might find that contemptable, but I think it's understandable given his status in life. If you finally get sober after decades of trying, I'm sure the last thing you want to do is spend time dwelling on all of your mistakes--and he's made a large number of them. He has nothing to gain from addressing it, and if he still doesn't like Sam and Mike on a personal level, it's probably best he keeps his mouth shut.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.

No. Just because someone on the inside decides to tell us doesn't mean we need to know or have a right to know, nor is it that the person even should have made public such intimate details of the train-wreck.

I know we all saw that Ed was having problems. But that's all we knew, cuz it was out there for us to see. But giving people the dirt was a big step deeper and cowardly move.

Like I said before, it's over, it's done. Sammy did it. He isn't backing down, he put his head in the noose and jumped off the chair. Wouldn't shock me one bit that if he had even a sliver of a chance of reuniting before the book, he sure burned his bridges.

    ^These are spot on.

Don't forget that right around the exact same time, Valerie wrote her book which was just as revealing -- if not a lot more so -- than Sammy's book.

The ONLY thing that was EVER said about Eddie and the book was that Valerie sent him an advance copy but never heard back from him.

Again -- no libel = no lies. The only thing she said they didn't agree on was who cheated on who first, with each maintaining that the other did first. The very famous are always under the microscope -- hell, I put Ed under a big microscope myself. But one thing that I figured it out is that as of now, he has zero interest in his past and that includes almost every single day up until he met Janie. They won't release old videos because MA is in them, etc. The only thing he'll do from his past are the 78-84 songs.

For the Hagar-era fans, it must be especially hard because now that era is 100% wholly neglected. I for one would especially love to hear Edward play the piano riff for "Right Now", but I suppose that is now left to college football games (they routinely play 15-20 seconds of the intro at University of Texas games in front of 100k+ people).

That would generally be my guess for sure. My bet is that Janie hired/hires someone to read everything to check for libel, for sure.

Good point, Bad to the Bone....

And Sam only sells more books if Ed comments.

A lot of folks here at the links commented on it.

Shit storms galore in any Sam book thread... here too I'm sure, before very long.

I really don't think Edward gives 2 shits about the RED book...

Soon after it's release, VH was ruling the rock world again with the #2 rock album, and the #2 profiting generating rock tour.

I'm sure Sam was slightly jealous at that point.
