Default Nostalgia For Those Van Hagar Days (Video)

I remember being in high school and just starting to learn guitar and a friend of mine let me borrow his F.U.C.K and Balance albums. I remember just being blown away by both of them. So I decided I was going to spare no expense and go see Van Halen on their next tour. And then a couple of weeks later the 1996 MTV Video Music Awards happened.

So In the past month, I revisited both albums and got so inspired listening to them that I decided to pay a little tribute and take a stab at covering a song from each of them. Learning these songs made me appreciate Eddie's genius even more.

    Amsterdam (With Extended Solo)

    Poundcake

It's really a shame what happened to the band with Sammy and Mike. I long for that era and wish those guys could all kiss and make up and write another album together. If Humans Being, Me Wise Magic, Can't Get This Stuff No More was any indication of what was to come, that album would having been fucking amazing.

I did eventually get to see Sammy in Van Halen in 2004 but what I ultimately got was a drunk Ed farting into the microphone and saying, "Thanks for paying my rent!"

Anyway, just wanted to share these with all of you fellow VH fans.

The songs are good. While I like Amsterdam ,the "wham-bams and Ya Ya's" kinda tarnished it for me a bit.No doubt musically they're both great, though.

5 Star playing.Mash!! Your "drill" skills are stellar,as well.I've never attempted Poundcake....reaching for the drill must be tough...in the beginning, anyway.

Thanks Pride! Actually, reaching for the drill wasn't tough when I discovered that it doesn't even touch the guitar. The drill is loud enough for the magnets in the pick ups to transmit the noise. You should try it, it's fun!

Haha,it does sound like fun.I'll give it a shot with my Black and Decker.
I've never attempted learning a "Sam" song yet....Poundcake is definitely near the top of the list.Just the rhythm alone is killer!
