I can't tell a lot of these new bands apart . Rival Sons , One Bad Son , Glorious Sons , etc.
They all sound the same to me , when I hear them on the radio . There's nothing (to my ears) that sets each one aside from the other ...

One of them has a new song called 'Lightning' , which I do enjoy a lot . The vocalist has a nice rasp in certain parts .

    Default Rival Sons

    Just caught onto these guys.
The new record, Feral Roots, is really good. Straight ahead rock n roll.

How have I missed this band over the last few years? Hope to catch them live at their Boston show in April.
If you're looking for some good new music, give them a listen.

I' m seeing them in DC in April

This band is pure rock Singer has the most powerful voice in ROck right now.
Here is their show from the Bataclan " He decated a song tothe victums" a few days ago. For me they are the best out there right now.
They blow GVF of the stage IMHO. Just straight badass.
plus $25 buck a ticket! My number 1 band right now. love these guys.

Only know their last album, Hollow Bones, which was pretty neat. The title track, Thundering Voices and the highly-emotional All That I Want stand out for me.
Just noticed that they are giving concerts this weekend over here. Good for them: both dates are sold out. Tough luck for me as I would have been right in the area for that show on the 24th.

Like Rival Sons and GVF or not, I think we're entering a new golden age of music. I've been thinking, why are we suddenly seeing bands like this, and the Americana-rock stuff like Jason Isbell, filling large theaters?

I wouldn't have imagined it a few years ago, but there's obviously a large audience, beyond us on this forum, who want music that is NOT adulterated with alternative, grunge, Goth, death metal, nu metal, EDM or rap/hip hop. And somebody's actually listening! There is successful new music out there now that shows no trace of the shit that has spoiled pretty much every genre since 1993. You can once again see bands where no one on the stage has their laptop open, there is no "hype man," no twerking.

    I'm pretty excited about it.

I saw these guys open for Sabbath and they were great live. A friend of mine is huge fan so I hear them a fair bit and always enjoy it.

FANTASTIC! First off, I love Rival Sons. Second, I love that song. Third, Dean Delray is great...such a great host and is a great guy (met him when his band [Jackpot, I believe?] was touring with one of my all-time favorite bands, The Mother Hips).

    Seriously?!
Dean seems like such a good
guy! Seems to know pretty much everyone in the business. Even opening for Bill Burr these days.

I discovered him from his VERY emotional Bill Paxton interview.. Awesome voice on Dean and through twitter I talk to him quite a few times. Always approachable.

Man has great taste in music. Lucky you got to meet him.

Video Premiere: RIVAL SONS' 'Sugar On The Bone'

    June 20, 2019

RIVAL SONS have shared the official music video for "Sugar On The Bone" from their acclaimed album "Feral Roots". The clip was shot by Patrik Skoglow during RIVAL SONS' recent European headline tour and documents sold-out performances in Oslo, Norway; Stockholm, Sweden; and Copenhagen, Denmark.

This fall, RIVAL SONS will embark on a co-headlining U.S. tour alongside STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. Produced by Live Nation, the 12-city outing will kick off September 13t in Baltimore and see the two bands performing on intimate stages across the states, including The Met Philadelphia, Ford Amphitheater in New York City, The Fillmore New Orleans and more, before wrapping October 9 in San Diego. Dates in Norfolk, Pittsburgh and Cleveland have been recently added, with the latter two on sale this Friday.

"Feral Roots" was released in January via Low Country Sound/Atlantic Records. The disc was produced by Grammy Award winner Dave Cobb at Nashville's famed RCA Studio A, and the equally legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

Guitarist Scott Holiday told Guitar.com about "Feral Roots": "I think it offers a couple of things that you’ve never heard from the band before that you probably wanted to hear… I think. It's more expansive, but you don't have to worry about us going to Atlantic and selling our souls and being something crappy. They literally didn't do anything to bother us while we made it — they let us make the record that we wanted to make, and then they fucking loved it."

Regarding the songwriting process for "Feral Roots", Scott said: "We spent more time writing, passing things back and forth. We spent a week in this place called Hohenwald, Tennessee, we had this little writing cabin. It was real far out, really quiet and beautiful, and we would just wake up and start writing together, then go out into nature, swim in the creek and then meet back up later, make a fire and talk about the things we'd seen that day. It really set the tone for what we wanted to do, writing-wise, and gave us the energy. Then we went home and began to work on those songs, passing it around until things were beaten into shape.

"Once you're all together, something new is going to happen, and that's how we interact both onstage and when we record together," Scott continued. "We challenge each other, we're inspired, and we become improvisational to a degree. So you're still getting something that's to a degree unpolished, and is really in its first living moments."

RIVAL SONS are: Jay Buchanan (vocals), Scott Holiday (guitar), Dave Beste (bass guitar) and Mike Miley (drums).

"He has a swaggering retro machismo that will give hives to the Steinem cabal" -Camille Paglia on Donald Trump

"But, fucking with Brook is like fucking with hot shit on and ax handle. You just don't get a grip"-track5

"Make way for the bad guy"- Tony Montana

'This hamburger don't need no helper"- David Lee Roth

"I wish Bon Jovi would've given me a call before he recorded all of his hits, because the lyrics would've been smarter, the melodies would've been much more smashing, and they would've sold a lot fewer records." -David Lee Roth

"My beef is people thinking Bon Jovi is good cuz they sold lots of records to housewives." -tango

"But being number one doesn’t really mean jack fuck all. We sold twice as many records as other records that year (1984) that landed in the Number One position." ~Eddie Van Halen
