Love VH II. It proved VH was no fluke. When they followed with WACF, I was like, "what the f*ck". Then Fair Warning? Damn!

If anybody on here is a Harry Potter fan, you probably thought to yourself, how will J.K. Rowling top that book--then she did. That's what VH did from VHI thru Fair Warning.

My favorite of the Roth era.

I believe this album has Roth's and Michael's best performances on record.

Eddie's 2nd best performance (behind Fair Warning) and Al's third best (behind FUCK and 1984).

    Eddie Van Halen in 2012:

"ESQ: What are you going to do with all the material that you wrote with Sammy Hagar?

EVH: Oh, I hadn't thought about that. That's some great music. They're just on vacation, maybe. They're off to college and they're going their own way. Who knows?"

You summed it up fairly well .
I still think they upped the ante with 1984 as well . It was a career milestone , and also contained some of their 'best' material . IMO .

VH II is a gem . Lot's of great stuff on there . It's interesting to hear Alex say that the album sounded 'weak' compared to the demos and live stuff . "We used to be heavier" is an oft repeated quote of his . I thought the material sounded fine for the time . My old band used to play DTNA , SGMAD , Beautiful Girls , and You're No Good . Fun tunes that went over very well in a bar/club/party setting .

    The good ol' days ...
"There's too many people on this basketball that's floating around the sun, who are too afraid to allow themselves to FEEL" - Edward Van Halen
"Van Halen was never about the singer..." - a very wise fan.
"Embrace the past. Live in the moment but keep your eyes on the future, and keep on moving forward..." - Richie Sambora

    Agreed!

They really let Mikey go crazy on the album. His bass work on this effort is his best with the band.

    Feel old.
'Old Van Halen, when I was in it-classic Van Halen-makes you wanna drink, dance and screw, right? And the new Van Halen encourages you to drink milk, drive a Nissan and have a relationship.' - David Lee Roth.
