That is pretty damn cool, especially if it was in Ed's hands.

That kinda reminded me of this (sort of...):

Agreed. You can see why Ed never went with them.

Hard to imagine why the dude who bought it had Ed's autograph removed from it. Sounds like he paid a fortune for the guitar, you would think he would of protected the signature....

    Default PRS EVH Guitar

That is definitely an ugly ass guitar.

PRS guitars do nothing for me though and are way overpriced.

Anyone read the comments in that thread? Relic'ing a PRS didn't go over too well.

I've never seen these before. Interesting. I recall Ed mentioning being wooed by PRS. Dude was a little off with his dates, though; the Peavey Wolfgang was already in development as of 1995, and Ed played Wolfgangs at the end of the Balance tour.

Whatever you think of PRS guitars (they don't fit me at all--never been able to find one that fit me and my playing), I think they're THE best American made guitar. And for that matter they also make the best import medium-priced guitar (the SE series). With PRS you know you're getting a top-notch, playable guitar right out of the box. You'll pay just as much for a Gibson and have set-up and playability issues right away (and most likely have to do a fret level within a year or two).

PRS has the best quality control in the business, if the guitar has a flaw that cannot be fixed it's cut in half on a bandsaw.
As for them being over priced... IMO no they're not.
As stated above you pay alomost as much if not more for a Gibson, but you're pretty much guarenteed problems with the Gibson...
Gibson's are junk and are not worth the wood they're made out of.

    Default I like it

I have a PRS Custom 24 10 Top (got it about 9 years ago), and I love it. Most versatile guitar I have in my collection. I like this EVH version.

After seeing these prototypes it's easy to see why Ed passed on PRS. First I don't think PRS has Floyd Rose trems. That's a PV trem which is really odd. Pickup placement. At this point Ed knew where he liked pickups placed. Not angled like that. Also no neck pickup? And this has the truss rod adjustment at the headstock. Not the wheel at the heal he was already using and still uses. Remember when the EBMM EVH came out and Ed said he didn't like people sending him guitars they thought he'd like? This looks like what PRS thought he'd like. It's a step backwards compared to the EBMM. I just realized the timeline, is off. Maybe it's really off and this was before EBMM? In which case forget everything I just said.

    Default PRS EVH Guitar

To each their own guys like I said. PRS stuff just isn't my style and I've played lots of them. Just wasn't that blown away for the price. Didn't think they were particularly nice looking guitars for all that money either. I think my EBMM is a much nicer guitar than any of them I have tried. Again just my opinion and this is all subjective.

I'm not defending Gibson. I'm not a big Gibson fan either although I did just buy an Angus Young SG for a great price that I'm very much enjoying. It was a hell of a lot less than a PRS though.

I have a firebird and a white les Paul custom shop I had built and it's better than any PRS I've ever picked up. Both of them really. And I hated gibsons for years.
