Default VH "Throwdown" on That Metal Show

Van Halen was the subject of the “Throwdown” segment of last week’s episode of That Metal Show. Everyone was passionately debating the merits of ‘Van Halen I’ verses ‘Van Halen II’

The show’s three hosts, Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson, and Jim Florentine, where accompanied by four special guests: Alter Bridge‘s frontman and guitarist, Myles Kennedy and Mark Tremonti, singer-songwriter Matt Nathanson, and Trixter axeman Steve Brown who was taking the show in and out of commercial breaks with some serious riffing.

Visit VHND to watch the episode. We also have the transcription of the Van Halen Throwdown, and we mentioned all the VH references throughout the episode (there were many!)

The video won't play in my area , so I'll have to wait for the Youtube clips .
I did read the article and enjoyed the banter .

    Love both albums !!!
My vote is for 1 , by a small margin .

I love both albums but I have to go with I. I can't think of a better introduction to rock n' roll than VH I.

VH part starts around 40 minutes in.

I prefer VH 1. Basically production was better (I liked the guitar and what Ted with Dave's voice)

With that said, LUTS, BU, DTNA, and DOA are in their top 20 ever imo.
    Right here I say....

Almost every episode..that show throws nothing but respect to both eras of van halen..I really wish they get on the show...to answer the question without 1 there wouldn't be a 2..conspiracy ?..think again
..In 1984 Van Halen Jumped Panama
Topped Jimmy & Dropped Dead Legs
..Ill Wait in this House of Pain with the
Girl Gone Bad while I am really Hot for Teacher..

..Think it was easy ?..you stare at an album
    Cover that long..

The debut stands as a landmark moment in history . R'nR has never fully recovered ! Haha
VHII is also full of great material and further guitar "dazzle" moments , ala EVH .

    Both platters are amazing !

they mention Van Halen EVERY episode somehow, someway.

    pretty cool.

guess their really trying to get someone on the show.

actually, that was 2 weeks ago. Last week w Lamb of God on, for the top 5, it was top 5 guests they want on the show.

    Who was number 1? guess....

    evh.

Im sure he would go on, but prolly w Wolfie.

Yngwie did a cool cover version of LUTS !
Overblown guitar (as usual) , yet I really like it .

He completely skip the breakdown, which is the best part of the song, beginning at the 1:42 mark ...
