I think DLR does a good job with it.
Taylor Swift is nice to look at. Adele can sing.

David Lee Roth did the impossible. He made Van Halen better. Deal with it!

Kind of an " oldies cruise ship " type vibe going on there, but I enjoyed watching it last night.

Surprised the hell outta me that he actually performed. I previously just assumed he would only make a presentation speech or something, as he had done before in 1988 at one of those awards show's as they honored The Beach Boys. This is the first time he has ever shared the stage like this.

Consider the audience though. I suspect predominantly comprised of mostly insiders, and wealthy hollywood show business folks. Tickets cost $ 350 or so.

They could of really spiced up the presentation with some bikini clad show girls and decorated the stage with palm tree's and what not.

I enjoyed it for what it was nonetheless.

Glad to see DLR on stage. Cool.

Guess it shows he doesn't only over-think and over-sing VH songs. Even classic melodies and tunes. Yuk.

I feel like I am becoming the lead singer apologist on here, all I seem to do is defend Sam, DLR and Gary.

I think DLR did fine there. They probably did about zero rehearsing for it, and I thought his vocals were fine.

I like them all , too . Those 3 guys helped give us some wicked music under the VH banner .

Let's call a dog a dog. That was a heaping pile of dog shit. The man cannot sing. I'm no vocal expert, but his over singing is to compensate for his inability to sing the notes. At a young age, he was able to make up for it with character, bravado and ONCE cool stage antics. He had a strong and colorful voice until about 1986. Now he just sucks. I love classic VH and early solo Dave, but game over on live vocals. I will buy the next album if there is one, but I'm done with DLR live. They can mask it in the studio. The 2012 Chicago show was unbearable. That was it for me. No more $200 tickets to sour my fondness of the studio music.

Dave seemed a little out of his element there...just a little lol. I agree with DD, I doubt there was any rehearsing, so this was Dave performing off the cuff to a song I don't think he has sung in a live setting in a few years. But..... I do have to say Dave was WAY overdoing his "whoa ah whoa yeah..whoo" scats on this to where it was distracting and overbearing the rest of the vocals.

This is my one main criticism of Dave's live singing these days is that I think he feels his "trademark" is the "whoa ah whoa...yeah..whoo" scats and he tends to do them way too much. A few here and there are cool but several in a song and not to mention songs that shouldn't include them constantly has become very distracting. But I still love the guy!

I am sure DLR reads the internet, and he sees a lot of people not liking his live vocals, so therefore he over does it.

His 2007/08 performances should be his blueprint (if you are reading this DLR!).

Lower register most of the time, save your screams for certain parts for maximum effect, good use of vibrato, and NO NASAL high register singing.

And I much prefer him using his mic stand as his prop instead of a dance floor.

But again, I think his vocals were fine there, it's just the type of vocalist he is.

He NEVER sings a song the same way twice, it's just his style. Used to bother me, but I am way over it by this point. I am just happy that they are an actual band again, I am not going to quibble too much about anything they do from this point forward.

I didn't mind it at all. I think Dave is a little oversized in his singing and demeanor for a setting like this, but hey, that's Diamond Dave for ya.
CNN may think my opinion matters, but you shouldn't.
